Hello!

Is there any benefit to have the same "features" when expanding you colony?

Lets say that my colony features are Arcadian & River is it better to expand into sectors that also have Arcadian & River?

Or should I just expand into what I need?

It will be slightly more efficient for the colony's development once you obtain the feature-specific tech that improves exploitations in specific terrain/ecology types because you'll have fewer to build. The difference isn't significant in the big picture though.

River and lava terrain is a little different in that they don't provide exploitation benefits; they just give a flat bonus per containing sector as soon as you have the relevant tech, no construction needed, so all other things being equal you always want to include a sector with a river or lava flow over one without. (All other things usually aren't equal though, which makes for a more complicated decision; and sometimes you may want to swap which sectors a city controls as new tech becomes available.)
