Hey guys, I'm finding that this game is running sluggest for me, origanally the mouse and the game itself were sluggish, but after playing with some settings the mouse isn't sluggish but the game itself is in areas (Zooming, scrolling the screen)

I'm using WIndows 8.1 if that may have something to do with it. Anyone know what could be happening?

When you execute the config file, does it show the dedicated graphics card or the integrated graphics card doing all the processing? I had problems in Windows 7 getting Shadow Magic to use the dedicated card for awhile and solved it by installing all the silly DirectX stuff. The integrated card was slow and sluggish like you describe.

Also, have you tried checking and unchecking various boxes in the config file? Stuff like Use Direct3D?

Good luck!
Turning Direct3D off did make it run faster, but it also removes a lot of things I would like to have, like zooming for example. :(

Thanks for the help though.
Can you run AoW:SM windowed? I know that has helped out other games under Windows 8.1.
I can, and it does stop making it sluggish. But that prevents features I want to use like zooming.
You may be running a piece of shit through fault of your own. I spent 400$ on my AMD laptop, which is by no means a high end computer. But you see, it actually has graphics. Other people buy something uber fast that has no graphics.
