Is there a way to upgrade the game from v1.5945 to the newest version without re-installling the entire game? If I understood the patch-notes correctly, an upgrade is only possible beginning with version 1.602.

/edit: Going after the solution a bit further down ("updating after a long layoff"), do I need to re-install only the main installer or also the DLCs and addons?

Try the main first, as it should be fine if it's the only thing you needed to update. If the DLC versions have bumped since your current version then you'd need to install the new versions of those too.
