Having some trouble with the first scenario in Fire Campaign. Due to him starting with faster/larger armies he keeps rushing me before I even have chance to get the necessary units to fight him off. Could really use some tips on how to survive the onslaught of the first week since I keep getting slaughtered by day 7-8. Should I grab a weakness during Merlin customization to add further spell casting strengths, or skip spell caster perks in favor of city growth/military ones? If I grab a weakness to grab a 2nd strength, which one is the least painful to take? Any help would be appreciated

Just rush him before he has a chance to do anything. He doesn't start the scenario with the middle cities owned. You can actually buy off the tigran city next to the foritified human city if you get there first. Even if he gets to it first, your starting units, reinforcements and the units at the naerby human city should take care of the midle cities. Then he just sits out at his capital. The AI is good at attacking a sitter but it can't effect a counter-attack once it's losing.

You don't need customization, but it's best to take pacifist negative if you want an easy game, with a bonus of speed (explorer) or gold.

Ok so rush for that middle city just south of the start one? and take Pacifist to add a 2nd buff? Like Channeller and Summoner or?
Refresh. Yes, after you get the human city, just run and take the city south of you, maybe with an extra made unit. I don't think he will even have his forces gathered there to attack you yet, and you may even be able to buy the nearby Tigran town if he hasn't gotten to it first. You may win before you've even explored the map much, and I rather of doubt this is how the developers intended it to be played, and frankly I had more fun struggling against the AI than disarming it. It's actually a fun and challenging campaign if you are a noob, but not so much if you are a berserk maniac like myself.

Ok that seems to have done the trick, Ive survived the first week and the attacks have mostly died down so I can build up in peace. Thx a lot for help, I'm used to AoW 1 at this point so the differences in AoW2 are throwing me off a bit
