Hey all,

I recently attempted to play AOW1 on a fairly new Windows 11 machine, but upon launching the game, the intro movie shows nothing but a black screen, although I can still hear the audio. I can click past the intro to get to the title screen as normal, but it would be nice to see the full intro without having to watch it on YouTube.

Has anyone else run into this problem, or have any ideas of how to fix it?

Thanks for the link. It didn't seem to work, however, I discovered the problem is with the game's launcher. If I run the game directly from the AOW.exe, the intro movie plays like normal, but for some reason it's always a black screen with the launcher.

Starting with AoW.exe from the game folder shows the intro cutscene just fine.

AoWCompat.exe only shows the black screen. (The desktop shortcut is also set to use that to start)

... which I'm guessing by the name of it makes it a compatibility issue.
