Ladies and gents. Just to let you know I have just done a release of the Wrapper code. This is version 1.0.1.4. The major update is Mozilla Thunderbird database integration for finding your email settings. This greatly future proofs the Wrapper’s ability to find the correct settings for a given email service. If you ever used the Wrapper before and had problems then this version is likely to work much better for you.

Other updates includes directly supporting the MP-Evolution patch. The Wrapper will now show MPE games in the Activity Log separately to Shadow Magic ones and you can launch the MPE executable by double clicking in the Activity Log or from the Wrapper system tray menu.

There is a new language now supported; Swedish. All other languages have been updated so that the new screens are fully localised. A big thank you to everyone who sent these in.

I have also added a full, clean, uninstall process which clears down any registry settings the Wrapper might have made and any configuration files on the disk. So basically your email send screen will go back to manual if you chose to no longer use the Wrapper.

There is no pressing need for anyone to upgrade unless you want to take advantage of the new features listed above. If you do want to upgrade I recommend you Exit the Wrapper, uninstall the old version from Control Panel / Programs and then install this new version. Your configuration will not be lost.

All the best o7

Hear hear!!

Dave and I are finishing a 1 one 1 in a huge map where we battled the AI wizard alliance with idiotic superiority in troops, mana, money and cities. Of course we prevailed :)
Anyone want to know how the idea for the Wrapper arose? It actually happened because of something I saw on my daily cycle to work. Thanks to Google street view, I can now share this with you! Follow this Google maps link, it looks like you’re going past a bus stop. But look closely, you might need to use your mouse wheel to zoom in and look.

This was 2010. So seeing that it made me want to play the games again. I got in touch with a mate of mine (Bryan Carter) who I used to play Aow with years ago and we did a PBEM game by swapping files via drop box. Deciding that this was pretty crap we both gave it some thought. Then he, Bryan, had the idea to make some kind of SMTP wrapper. I then had a muck around one day after work and I managed to get an open smtp server working in C# and this was the very first Wrapper. It only dealt with outgoing email, there was no POP or IMAP checking for email at that stage. All that was added later as it turned into a properly little side project =)

Nice Wizard Tower on the way to work. Either that or you're really excited about low prices on phone services. :)
What a coincidence, I was Swedish my last lifetime.
