So I recently bought the normal edition of age of wonders 3 for 39,99$ which is 29,88€ for me since I live in europe.
Now I check to see that age of wonders, as of today, costs 54,99$ which is 39,75€.

Has anyone outside of europe experienced a sudden sharp price raise of over 30% or is gog seriously trying to pull a steam with a $ to € exchange rate of 1:1 which it tries to mask by displaying fake $ prices?
AOW3 has been priced with the "$=€ for european countries" prices, at the demand of the publisher, but I heard GOG is compensating ripped-off buyers. If you want more info, i's been discussed to death (with some spectacular arguments) a few weeks ago. The announcement about "regional pricings" should still be in the "hot topics" of your community frontpage.

"Still, we know some countries are really being screwed with regional pricing (Western Europe, UK, Australia) and as mentioned above, we’ll do our very best, for every release of a new game, to convince our partners to offer something special for the gamers living there."

Oh. Cool. So.
What do european buyers that are, as they themselves acknowledge, being ripped off get as of now?

Nothing? Cause I don't see anything on the storepage.

And I guess "drm is shit" only until it effects multiplayer, local and online.
Yeah no, I'm not here for this.
I guess I myself got lucky not getting ripped off this time so I won't have to ask for a refund but for future reference, I won't be buying anything new here. Not if this is here to stay now.
That's the exact reason I avoid steam.

I have no idea what the gaming industries obsession with punishing early purchases is but it's doing a damn fine job with it.

Germans have a better economy anyway. You get to be practically guaranteed a job, that's your bonus.

As stated here:

+ The Fair Price Package for our UK customers affected by local prices is one $9.99 code for anyone who buys the Standard Edition, and two $5.99 codes for the Deluxe Edition.
+ For other European customers affected by local prices the Fair Price Package for Standard Edition is now $9.99 code and one $5.99 code, and for the Deluxe Edition it's three $5.99 codes.

I'm guaranteed to get a job? Then why have all of my applications been denied?

Edit: Fixed a quote.

No, we have a brain, thats our bonus!

If someone wants to rip me with taking 40 Euro for an NOT DRM-free game, then im able to decide to take another offer!

I have choosen to pay 26 Euro for an Steam key the day after release as it is DRM anyways, so whats the problem to choose the cheaper offer?

Actually it isn't DRM. I don't have internet at my place anymore and have played AOW 3 with my Triumph account in offline mode. Every loads fine and I can play whenever I want without internet. Tell me how that is DRM? For online play you need to be online. Duh. That's basically it.
The account registration in AoW3 is for Triumph's multiplayer matchmaking service. Unsurprisingly, that doesn't work if you're offline and/or don't register for it. You do not need to use it to play the game otherwise though, and you can leave the game in "Guest" mode permanently if you want to.

As for the regional pricing, it's something that was forced on GoG; the issue went back and forth but the end result is that they'll provide gift codes worth the price difference out of their own pocket.

Well,
you are in a special situation, having no inet access, but to use this to tell people this game has NO DRM is a (bad) joke, really........
Age of Wonders 3 is heavily designed and balanced around multiplayer, to use this part of the game you are forced to create and login into an online account at Triumph and that is called and in fact DRM.

But like you have told, you enjoy the game for 40 Euro and i enjoy the game for 26 Euro, still why do i think you have taken the shorter stick somehow? Even if i don't count your bad no inet situation?

I have even payed less then the accepted 40 USD, but charging 40 Euro for no reason is a shame......who and if GoG is forced to do so is no point of interest for my private pocket, even if im german i have no money to waste!

I might not have paid 40 euro. (: Maybe it was a gift.

Besides, AOW 3 has VPN support now. You aren't forced to log into anything or create an account. In this sense GOG is drm in itself because you need to create an account to download and play games.

Wait, is VPN support code for LAN multiplayer or does online multiplayer now work correctly with VPN?

From what I heard is that VPN works for both local and online multiplayer.

There isn't local multiplayer or there wasn't. Only online mode which aside from authorizing the players is smart enough to keep game traffic local. Then again I could be confused about it.
