Is it true that the GOG versions of these games have some missing dlc? If I got it right the GOG versions lack some dlc, while the steam ones have them all.
This question / problem has been solved by Bethezerimage
The only missing dlcs are 'let's be broken' ones. Aka. with way overpowered stuff to get at the start of the game. It will make the first fights, where you should be learning the ropes, quite borring, because you, probably, should be albe to one-shot enemies. You also get some materials, I belive, and 'use items', like potions. Everything from the dlcs should be avaiable in-game to get with normal progress.
I second what Bethezer said. All those dlcs for Aagrest are basically cheats.
And everything, which comes from those dlcs (except cosmetic stuff), is obtainable in the game.

Agarest I here, however, has special edition, which comes with a number of dlcs.
Thanks for answering my question, to the both of you! :)

So there is nothing like dlc exclusive characters, right? As for the special edition, are you talking about the collectors one? Because that's one is not discounted for now.

Collectors' Edition it is.
Actually Collector's Edition contains some bonus dungeons, but those are totally optional, non-unique and have nothing unique in them (same layout as some other dungeons) - they are there just for some free loot.

There are similar dungeons in Agarest 0's dlcs (which don't seem to be in gog version) - also nothing unique in those.

Some Agarest 2 dlcs contain special characters, but they7 don't really fit the story, as those bonus characters are IIRC from 1st Agarests, and Agarest 2 has place in alternate dimension. Not a great loss either.

Key moment here, is that steam client makes a lot of games (specifically including these) quite laggy (that's because of how their DRM works), so if you go with DRM-free versions you get lagfree games. I think absence of DRM is worth more than some non-canon characters and some free loot.
Especially if this is random generated loot. You could get those just by playing the game. :)

This may sound stupid but...Will I get those dlc if I buy the collector's edition upgrade at a later time? I didn't know about the steam version related bug...does the game use another form of drm other than the steam one? Because if so then, I'll be damn sure to buy the gog one (a shame for the missing dlc character of the 2, though :( ).

You... are sure about that DLCs? IIRC, when the first Agarest make his debute on GOG, it was said that our edition has everything. And by the explanations on the site the Collectors Upgrade has artbook, wallpapers and soundtrack. It does not add anything to the game itself. So I belive there is no difference game-wise.

<after a bit of investigation> And now I'm sure of it - I checked my other games that have DLCs to them and with every single one of them there was special tab for them in "Extra Downloads", right below the main file. There was nothing below Agarest 1, so every DLC is in the game. Collectors Edition is just goodies.

Gurlok:
Not sure about the bug in Steam version... but on the other hand - I spend in game something like... 15 hours, so maybe didn't get to it. Anyways, about additional characters: I would say you don't have to feel bad about it. Although I would like skins, but you will have more than enough characters, and the ones added... Do they even have story? It's more like a cameo or easter egg - just old, probably fan-favorite character, that was added to the game 'because'. No plot significant, just a doll that looks like one of other games characters. So, like it was said - no real lose here. :)

I can't be 100% sure, as I bought Agarest 1 Collectors Edition sitraight away.
However, normal edition of Agarest 0 has no dlc stuff, thus I suppose the same is true for Agarest 1, not that those dlcs make any big difference.

Sure you will. When I start the game as Collector's Edition, I have dlc choices when choosing "new game" and I get messages about free dlc dungeons being activated right before the intro starts. You can try to buy normal version and see if you get Dungeon DLC messages - if you get free dungeon dlcs, then you are good to go. If not, you might consider buying upgrade afterwards.

GOG version is DRM free. Steam version has Steam, and its DRM causes slowdowns in many Steam games, well because it is DRM...
I see, thanks to the both of you, for the explanations! :)
