I've seen several screenshots of Advent Rising online (such as and [url=http://pcmedia.ign.com/pc/image/adventrising_022304_011.jpg]this ) which show the main character and sometimes vehicles and other characters with shadows.

I don't see any character shadows in-game, and there is no obvious option in the game .ini files. The menu setting doesn't seem to work.
Does anyone know how to get shadows working correctly (or if there actually are any in this version of the game?)?

Yah I get this problem too and I am not sure how to fix it.

Although I found a thread dated back when the game was released about a person having the same problem.

He said that his ATI 9800PRO showed shadows and some extra effects not seen on his 5900ultra or 6800gt.

Maybe it's an issue with Nvidia GPUs.

It turns out that when the Shadows option in the Graphics menu is set to "Low", some character shadows actually work (for me, at least), though they are large, blurry blob shadows that only seem to show up on certain surfaces.

The only setting in the .ini files which appears to be related to shadows is the "BlobShadows=____" setting in Mydefault.ini. Setting it to false results in no shadows, setting it to true gives me the blob shadows.

So the question is: if there is a high-quality shadow toggle (apart from the in-game one), where is it?
