Just did, thanks.

After trying all of the usual support recommendations, I finally got fed up and just started closing all background apps (regardless of whether it was security or related.) Amazon Music was the culprit. It appears it might be locking up the audio driver so this (or perhaps other type games) are unable to access the audio driver?

Anyway, once I killed Amazon Music, game fires right up.

Hopefully this helps someone else track down any other offending app locking up the devices.

I don't have (music anything) installed/on. Mine locks up at start every time after 4 install/verifies. With this error message if I dare try esc, or enter or, any action with keyboard. Mose click white screened it, with same ending result.

what helped me to run this game (WIn10 64bit)

-putting the ad2044.exe into compatibility mode for XP SP3 (used the "all users" option)
-disabling full screen effects/enhancements
-start as admin (might be default)

start it from inside GoG Galaxy as usual

might have to click the resize button (the lower left button in the top right) and restart the game to enjoy proper fullscreen

For anyone who might still be stuck at the splash screen, you can also try this:

-Once you're stuck at the splash screen, open task managar and head to the details tab.
-Right click on ad2044.exe and select "Analyze Wait Chain"
-check the box next to nvcontainer.exe and terminate the process (picture added for reference)

After that, the game should run normally. This only applies if you have a nVidia GPU
