Simple as that.
After days of trying to figure it out, getting the typical Access Violation error, doing all the suggested things with compatibility options, running as admin vs not, Win XP SP pack 2 and others, DPI settings, messing with DEP settings, checking what was running in the background.
None of that mattered.
But going to my Nvidia Control Panel, and setting the preferred Graphics Processor to Integrated Intel Graphics instead of my High Performance Nvidia Processor, and now the game seems to work.
Haven't tried to see how good my framerate is with intel yet.
