At the end of chapter 1, when attempting to rescue the second San Francisco team, I've reach a point where I can proceed no further. I know that I need to attach the rope to both the exposed rear axle and to the wheel rim/support beam. However the game will only give me the option to "look at" the items, not attach anything to them.

I consulted some walkthroughs to see if I was skipping a step, but I've completed all other task necessary. I just need to attach the rope, but can't.

I've found some comments in other forums that other people have had this or similar problems. I've emailed the game developer to see if they have a solution. I just wondered if anyone else had encountered this and what you did to proceed. I checked savedgameserver, but they have nothing posted for this game.
