1nsane seems to support even widescreen resolutions but it still uses 4:3 aspect ratio which looks very badly streched. Is there some way to force it use 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratio?

Prolly not.
I bought it today, and havent had a chance to play it yet (still at work).
You can check widescreengaming.net though, and see if they have any hints.
