Just finished playing this and I have to say it was a decent point and click adventure game. It avoided all the pitfalls of others in that genre by allowing you to pick up items as you came across them, not forcing you to back track for them later.. Hot points didnt change regarding some vague timeline by the devs, so you didnt have to keep clicking them throughout the game to see if some action was now enabled. If there was a timed action, they usually did a nice fade out to black and then immediately come back with whatever item was needed for the storyline. Porting to areas was pretty quick via a map. All in all the aggravations that some devs think are necessary to fill game time (backtracking and travel time) were gone.
Graphics were nicely done, ala cartoony film noir exaggeration. You have the option to play in black and white to enhance the film noir effect, I was happy with the full color version.
There are achievements to be had for those that care about them, personally I didnt.
The music that flitted thru was great, nice jazz riffs, lounge singing, fit the theme nicely.
The dialogue was hip, some laugh out loud moments, the characters were zany and fit in the whole beatnik era theme. There were some very adult and progressive moments in game which I found cool and unexpected. Lots of easter eggs to pop culture. Play as both characters in the story. Great voice acting on the english side, cant vouch for the translations.
The puzzles were pretty logical, no weird 'put this rock and pillow together and get a spaceship' kind of stuff. Items disappeared from inventory after use, which cut down on clutter and unneeded combining attempts. Most puzzles could be figured out with some thinking, no need for a guide tho I did use one when I ran out of options and kept getting a timed response (wait for the morning kind of thing) and used a guide to realize thats when I needed to flip to the other character to continue.
Different endings to game made me use saved games to make other choices to see how they were.
Game played without any glitches, though the clunky save/load interface took some time to get used to.
All in all no complaints at all for this point and click, which is rare. I'm very glad to have bought it on sale, tho for full price the game is a bit short on game play time.
Will buy more from this dev.
