Kingdom's Life

An excellent strategy game for the indie segment. The nuances of familiar games of this genre are taken into account. Economy, development of the nation in different eras, diplomacy, war. Various maps with the ability to create your own. Of the shortcomings, I would name only some solutions in the interface, but, in general, a fairly intuitive game. Pixel graphics do not hurt the eyes. And there is no annoying soundtrack. In general, I recommend.

Seems like a game with some potentially fun and interesting mechanics under the hood but wants you to put in a full work week to understand any of it. Unintuitive UI that doesn't seem to be explained (at least by default). Tutorial? I couldn't discern one. The game CTD for me more than once in my few hours of play. GOG says I clocked 11 hours in this game which is incorrect and I know why. I suspect I put in no more than an hour. But after one of the game's CTD's the executable kept running in the background even though no game window was visible, so the GOG client kept logging it as time played. Sadly the only pro I can think of at the moment is that the game was under $4 bucks when I got it. So it might be a good game but I'll never know because it shouldn't feel like work to uncover the mechanics or how to play, or to decipher an unexplained UI.

This game is not ready to play. I'm not sure why GOG allows games like this to sully their name. There's no tutorial, no rules to be found online. It looks like it might be intelligent, but it also appears relatively complex. There are typos in the game - and not just misspelled words, but stuff that any 6th grader could catch during a basic proofread. It's glitchy too. A character tells you he's going to help guide you, which I assume is supposed to be in reference to a tutorial, but then...that's it. It's not worth $.59 cents, much less $7.00. A total waste of money. I'm asking for a refund - and I bought it on sale. Run while you can!
