Xenosaga Episode I: Der Wille zur Macht

Xenosaga Episode I: Der Wille zur Macht (2002)

by Monolith Soft, Namco
Genres:Role-playing (RPG), Adventure, Turn-based strategy (TBS)
Themes:Fantasy, Science fiction
Game modes:Single player
Story:Xenosaga: Episode I - Der Wille zur Macht, the first chapter of a trilogy, is a Japanese-style sci-fi role-playing game, sharing many common themes and gameplay elements with Xenogears. The battle system is not unlike the one used in Xenogears (combo attacks, AP and EP gauges, etc.), but random encounters are eliminated. Instead, the enemies are now visible and battles can be avoided. During combat the few upcoming ally and enemy turns are shown onscreen, allowing the player to make strategic decisions based on who will act next. A rolling slot moves with each turn as well, conferring a bonus such as added damage or bonus XP for any action on that turn. If the enemy would be in position to take an advantage then the player can expend a character's "boost" gauge to cut in and act next, although enemies can boost as well, and enemy boosts always over-ride player boosts. Each character has a unique tree of Ether spells they can learn by spending Ether points earned in battle, with lower spells requiring spells above them to be purchased first. After a spell is purchased, so long is it does not require a unique talent of that character, the spell can also be purchased and learned by any other character that can afford double its normal cost. The Anti-Gnosis Weapon Systems can be equipped with different weapons and accessories and can be used in combat provided that a character has enough AP on that turn to board their AGWS.Show more

Seeing the Gnosis invade the Woglinde ship, especially the part where the Gnosis grabbed a crewman of the Woglinde turning them into a pillar of salt and then shattering to pieces.

i am absolutely not normal about this series as it has been a very intense special interest of mine ever since i picked up the first game in middle school. i can't even think of a single moment because there were so many that made this game unforgettable. it would truly mean so much to me and many other long time (and short time) fans of this series if this ever gets brought to PC.
This was one of the first 3D JRPGs I played and the story, music, voice acting and combat kept me hook for 12 hours straight. This is also the first game that I played for so long in one sitting. Sadly I got stuck and never beat. So I would love for the chance to do so.
This game plays incredibly similarly to Xenogears for PS1 and feels like the next gen successor to it, with the same type of story and 1 of the characters at least is from Xenogears as well. This game and all the others in this series was super fun. Drew me in to be a 100% completionist it was so fun. Large RPG that made me go nuts waiting for the others in the series to be released. Would love to see it here on GOG, I believe these games were for the PS2 if not mistaken.

I rented this on PS2. Then I rented it again. And then I had to go buy it. It's one of my all time favorite PS2 games (not so much the subsequent games unfortunately). It has well directed cutscenes which is something a lot of more modern JRPGs don't even try to do anymore (and even Xenosaga didn't continue with). I have little hope here, but hey. You never know.
one of best's rpgs, secrets, details, and a amazing group of charaters whith yours self historys, whith crazing plot(very)twist, an art in rpg history of games.

Xenosaga Episode 1 was my first hardcore Sci-fi RPG. I've been dying for anyone to try and preserve this game. The only way to play it now is to spend a small fortune.
Loved this game back when I played it on PS2 never got to play the whole trilogy, would love to see all of them on PC. I literally downloaded GOG for Breath of Fire 4. So I'm ready to buy more classic JRPGs!

This game is the start of an amazing experience, the best story ever told in a JRPG across the series despite the fact that we never got to see the full vision for the series. I still remember being blown away when it first released; it was like an amazing move that you got to play. I'd love to be able to play the games on computer and see them preserved for posterity here on GOG.
The start of one of the greatest RPG stories ever. The level of depth to the characters and narrative is still unheard of to this day. It's hard to explain just how deep it is. This game introduced the world to KOS-MOS and she's still getting featured in other games and media to this day, but her own games are still platform locked on the ps2 and hard to find. That scene where she fires the x-buster and wipes out a fleet of gnosis is iconic. Please preserve it GOG!!
Those games also need your vote!

Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.

Black & White 2
Black & White 2In the game, the player takes the role of a god called from the void (nothingness) to help those who invoked them. However, the player is not an omnipotent style god, but rather a god who rises and falls with his believers and the player must help develop their nature according to their good or evil desires. The player also has a creature, their physical representation in the world, which takes the form of an anthropomorphic ape, lion, wolf, turtle, cow, or tiger. Its physical manifestation can grow to an immense size, and adopt a good or evil persona separate of the player's. They develop their character as the player rewards or punishes their actions. In addition to the god simulation and city-building elements introduced in the original Black & White, Black & White 2 also features elements of real-time strategy gameplay, with the addition of controllable warfare and fighting units.
