I first learned about Shadowrun through a magazine, probably Xbox Magazine or Game Informer, and I immediately fell in love with the concept. As a young teen, it was my first introduction to anything cyberpunk, and it was so cool and unique. Once I got the game, it was also special, because as someone that didn't have a gaming PC, it was my first introduction to Counter-Strike style gameplay. When Rooster Teeth, which I had also recently gotten into at the time thanks to Red Vs Blue, made a short series using the game (1-800-MAGIC) it just cemented in my mind that this game was something special. The community in this game is still alive and well, playing on peer-hosted servers using old Games for Windows Live codes, communicating and setting up tournaments and such through a dedicated Discord space. They were even able to put together a Q&A with some members of the dev team a while back. With over 1000 members in the Discord, this community is more active than many games still being officially sold and run. I can only imagine how much it would grow if there were easier access to it via GOG.

Recently getting to interview a dozen of the original FASA developers in a community AMA and getting to play actual matches with the developers of your favorite game 16 years after release. An actual gamer’s dream come true. Going to various in-person LAN events to hang out and swap stories with other fans of the game. Nashville 2023 was an absolute blast and hope with a revival, we as a community are able to have more events like that in the future.

Played this game nightly with my friends back in 2007. We played the game for years until there were only a few thousand players, and then a few hundred, and then just a handful of diehard fans that basically all knew each other at least by their tags or reputations. would really like for this to come back and id be bringing at least a dozen poor souls with me that never got the chance to play in 2007

Early on in my youth, I played this constantly with my friends on my xbox 360. I've owned multiple copies and consoles for LAN shadowrun parties. This game is magical, and to see it come back would be a dream.

Played this as a kid back when it came out, there was nothing else quite like it when it came to gameplay. It much reminds me of current day competitive gaming and it was far ahead of its time. This game could have so much potential if remastered properly.

I remember this game on the Xbox 360 when I was young. It had very interesting mechanics that still hold up today. It was also one of the first games to have cross-play which brought together lots of gamers. Shadow Run is playable on the Xbox Series through backwards compatibility. But playing it on PC these days is a bit complicated for most people. It would be awesome if it was added to GOG so it can be more accessible to PC users.

This was one of those games on the Xbox 360 where I was too poor to afford it at the time to buy it and I couldn't afford a subscription either,--I only played the online demo. I played it for so many hours despite so much of the content being locked out and it left such an impression that I still miss it to this day. The worst part was when I was at a financial state to be able to play it they already had announced there would be no new content or updates that were originally planned and they would shut the servers down. So, yeah, I want to play it again and I know there's others out there that feel the same way.

This game had an online multiplayer demo that allowed anyone to play it for free forever. It was basically the first free to play multiplayer FPS. Which is part of the reason so many had played it (including me), because this game got little to no marketing when it was released sadly. I really fell in love with it though when MLG (Major League Gaming) added it to their circuit alongside their flagship Halo. You got to watch the single greatest FPS team at the time in Final Boss destroy everyone at Shadowrun and it was so amazing to see how good this game was when played at such a high level.
Those games also need your vote!
Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.
