Resident Evil: Dead Aim

Resident Evil: Dead Aim (2003)

by Capcom Production Studio 3, Capcom
Genres:Shooter
Themes:Horror, Survival
Game modes:Single player
Story:Resident Evil: Dead Aim is a survival-horror game released exclusively for the PlayStation 2 under the Gun Survivor title, which was used for several games made for the Namco light gun controllers. The game is played in two camera angles: the player moves from a third-person perspective while walking, which changes to a first-person perspective while aiming the gun. You'll pick up several guns through the course of the game, including a magnum, a shotgun, and an assault rifle. But like in other Resident Evil games, zombies are difficult to put down permanently and ammo can be very scarce.Show more

I never had the opportunity to play Resident Evil: Dead Aim. I have only seen snippets on YouTube. I really hope that this game will be added on GOG and updated computer mouse controls and general keyboard controls. I would also really like to see some improved graphics. I hope this game will be brought back.

Absolutely amazing soundtrack, immersive and well-designed atmosphere, fun gameplay and is oozing with old school Resident Evil appeal. This is a light-gun game so it's always going to be fun and it deserves to be on GOG.

I have never played this game, however I have watched videos on youtube, this game is unique you move character from third person and shoot from first person. I want GOG team do their best to put this game on PC so that many other players would get to know this game and play it for the first time in their life. Also adding more special weapons for PC would be an interesting and unique addition, for example for just clearing a game you get flame knife which sets enemies on fire and does additional damage flame knife will be accesible the moment you start new game+. Next special weapon for completing normal difficulty would be infinite sub machine gun with ability to add or remove silencer, since sound in this game is a special thing in new game + mode you also start with this weapon. Now for the final special weapon the most powerful weapon, the rocket launcher capable killing all enemies in one shot, to get this cutie you will need to beat hard mode, I'm giving ideas of these special weapons since getting S rank on higher difficulties is a real challenge and these special weapons I mentioned would make things a little easier, since there would be no penalty for using them.

Playing this as a kid on the ps2 terrified me, it was awesome, hope to do it again someday with all the resident Evil games. Dead aim holds that place between trying to be a rail shooter, and being that classic Resident Evil feel.
I was fortunate to have played Dead Aim on the PS2 with a guncontroller, they were sold together at the mall I lived near at the time. A wildly underated resident evil game, held back largely by the gimmick of the guncon - but if you had one, it was a lot of fun - easily the best attempt at a 'first person' resident evil before RE7. You ran around in third person like traditional resident evil games and then would switch to first person for a shooting mode, unfortunately guncons are all but extinct so as much as I would like to vote for it - its better if you get a PS2 and a guncon if possible.
Those games also need your vote!

Time Crisis
Time CrisisTime Crisis is a light gun shooter arcade game released by Namco in December 1995. It was later ported for the PlayStation in 1997, bundled with the Guncon light gun controller. Time Crisis is a three-dimensional first person rail shooter similar to Virtua Cop and The House of the Dead installments, in which the player holds a light gun and goes through the motions of firing at on-screen enemies. Time Crisis is best known for its cover system, in which players can duck behind cover to avoid enemy fire and reload his weapon. There are three stages, each consisting of three areas and a boss battle. Unique features are described here in: A foot pedal which performs multiple functions: when the pedal is released, the player takes cover to conserve hit points while reloading the gun. While the pedal is released, the player cannot attack. In console conversions, a button command replicates the foot pedal's functions. The player loses a life if he/she is hit by a direct bullet or obstacle whilst not taking cover, with the game ending if he/she loses all lives. A light gun (introduced in Point Blank) which utilized a special memory chip to synchronize areas of the screen's image as the player rotates the gun around. The light gun also features a blowback function which simulates real-life gun recoil. A countdown timer, recharged by clearing an area of enemies. As running down the clock causes an instant game over, the player must take risks, shooting enemies rapidly and hiding only when necessary. A time extension is rewarded when an area is passed and there are also time bonuses awarded for shooting certain enemies quickly. The PlayStation port features an exclusive side-story mode, in which the player's performance, such as how quickly he can clear an area, affects the path he takes through the game, resulting in multiple possibilities.
