I first encountered this game years ago when it was bundled as a demo with a gaming magazine. I remember being immediately hooked by its engaging mechanics and surprisingly immersive world. Not sure if this would be playable today, but would love to add it ti my collection.

It is hard to think that this game came out from the same Halo studio. I remember tryharding this game trying to do new combos... the combat system was really great, something new in these years. The music was nice and the anime touch was something refreshing back there.

It is hard to express how deeply I love the game. It is best of a class story-driven 3rd person beat 'em up game with shooting and stealth elements of its time! I'm huge fan of its music, visual style, cyberpunk setting and THE story. Not to mention that Oni together with Shogo definitely helped to raise anime popularity, which was not that mainstream back then. I would love to have it in my collection.

I already wrote a message long ago but I'll write another one! I still have my old PC CD-ROM copy and I still play it 24 years later! It's such a unique and fun game that I wish more people could have the opportunity to play! Believe it or not, there's still an Oni community out there keeping the game and the dream, alive!

This game made my childhood. My father initially told me about Oni. I remember playing it a lot, so much so that I finished it over 50 times, without exaggeration. I first started playing Oni on the PS2, and I was very used to the controls. After years of hiatus, I bought my second PC, a weak one, with a GPU-GT710 and an old-fashioned Intel Pentium. After that, I started playing again, hundreds of other memories on that PC. Then I tried the modes provided in AE (Anniversary Edition), being designed by the Oni community, which I respect enormously. This PC died out in 2022, when I took advantage of the situation and started saving money for a powerful PC. I found the necessary components (an I5 12400F and RTX 3060 with 12VRAM) for me it was more than enough, and on January 31, 2023, I built my first mid-range PC. 2023-2024 were the years in which I played Oni the most. I had finished the game over 20 times with or without mods, trying to post on my YouTube channel. This thing motivated me to continue with a Speedrun, but I got stuck every time at Level 5, at the skip with the Screaming Cannon. So, Oni will remain in my soul, and that of many veteran players, I'm sure it revolutionized the vision of gaming in the 2000s in some way.

This game is such a product of it's time, doing its absolute best to mimic anime trends of the late 90s with Ghost in the Shell being the obvious primary source of inspiration. I also remember that the combat system was incredibly satisfying, especially grabs and the like, lots of intricate animations that made use of the simple 3D models well. It's a real shame that this series never went anywhere, it's got that amazing early 2000s vibe.

Most underrated melee combat EVER. This game NEEDS a PC release badly. Bungie should go back to it at some point - the retrofuturistic Ghost in the Shell-esque cyberpunk aesthetic is more alive than ever, so I honestly believe this would make WAVES nowdays.

When I have see this game on video game magazine, I want it. My mother and sister offer me this game when it was release but they give me the MAC version for my PC :( . They have retake it and I was taken by the game mechanics, the Heroin (Konoko) and the story. I have 20 year after the game and the cd on this box :)
Those games also need your vote!
Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.
