Thist is the last good homm game and it's biggest flaw is uplay
from day 1 it was obvious it deserved to be drm free and now GOG could save it
One of it's strongest point is the campaigns, most (expansions are different, still great) follow a family's trouble, then there are the epilogues, everything is interconnected in several ways, Best plot of all homm aside maybe from chronicles and shadow of death.
HOMM6 might be one of my all-time favourites from the series. The game has a really great story, beautiful world, awesome characters and amazing soundtrack. Honestly, this may be the last good HOMM game that is actually worth buying and investing your time in, in my opinion ofc. I remember playing it for hours with no end and just not getting bored of it. My favourite part of the overall game were the characters themselves (mostly the 5 siblings for obvious reasons) - Still, have to say my favourite of them all has to be Irina. She was such a great and strong character, despite her tragic story. A true girl-boss if you will. Anyway, yeah. Absolutely worth preserving!
Heroes 3 is widely considered the best of the franchise, but to me personally, Heroes 6 is the best. Unfortunately, it was riddled with issues ever since it came out. Connection to the Ubisoft servers via UPlay was mandatory, and you could get kicked from a single-player campaign session if you lost connection. There was no map editor/RMG for replayability, and the game balancing was not exactly good. But I loved the setting, the world, the main characters and most importantly, the creature animations were some of the best I'd seen in a long time, and many newer games from the 2020s aren't as good in this aspect.
I want this game in GOG because the original installation its incompatible with Win11.
Its a beautiful game that deserves be in the catalog along with the other HoMM classics.
This was one of my favorite HOMM games because of the intertwining story of the campaign and the creative ways the changed gameplay to make it new and fresh. Sadly the dynasty system was tied to live servers that they never properly disentangled before shutting off the servers breaking the game. It would be amazing to be able to properly play through the campaign again and try some of the blood and tear hero combinations, I never got to go back to because of the end of support for the game.
