Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (2004)

by Konami Computer Entertainment Japan, Konami
Genres:Adventure, Shooter, Tactical
Themes:Action, Fantasy, Historical, Stealth, Survival, Drama
Game modes:Single player
Story:Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is the prequel to the entire Metal Gear series. Most of the series' defining gameplay elements have been carried over and as before, Snake must use stealth and wits rather than brute force to infiltrate enemy zones and eliminate his major adversaries. Unlike the previous games, this installment takes place in a large outdoor jungle. Snake is able to use camouflage, climb trees, hide in tall grass or wear clothes that make him less noticeable.Show more

Metal Gear Solid 3 is the best in the series in terms of replayability and mechanics. I find it odd that they could port the base ps2 version to GOG (there is no PC version for this game unlike MGS2 which was previously on GOG) but that would be the best thing this store could ever do. Really hope Konami wakes up and bring the entire series on this platform with enhanced graphics and other cool stuff.

Chronologically the oldest Metal Gear game as it is an origin story for Big Boss, setting up the Metal Gear universe that Solid Snake works in. The upcoming Konami remake, Metal Gear Solid Delta, is created around this game, but without collaboration from it's ousted original creator, Hideo Kojima, so expect an alternate universe there.

Metal Gear Solid 3 always been my favorite Metal Gear game. From start to finish a truly fantastic game. Easily one of the best stealth games I ever played!!! This is a vastly different beast from other Metal Gear games. You get a greater in depth survival mechanics. The cut scenes combined makes a really great movie. You also get plenty of surprises. Such as changing your console time to cause The End to die of old age. You get a great variety of weapons as well as outfits. Each location you really wanna explore. You get such iconic characters you can't get get enough of. This was the first major event within the Metal Gear time line. A lot of older characters had their stories expanded more. You also can be creative to get around many situations. The audio as a whole is truly fantastic work. You get an experience you never forget. Metal Gear Solid 3 was a huge step up from the previous Metal Gear games. In all honestly, it's the absolute perfect stealth game. It's mind blowing how insane the game holds up so amazingly well all these years. I even considered this among the greatest Konami games ever!!! You get a surprising level of depth in everything. I do think this would be a huge seller on GOG.
If this game wins automatically, I'm going HD textures, this game will mark me for the rest of my life.
Just to make sure you know, GOG, all the votes for this game are votes for the Subsistence release. It is the most content-complete version of the game with the updated (but not replaced) camera, and additional content, while retaining the Guy Savage sequence which subsequent re-releases like the HD/Legacy/Master collections did not, but unfortunately the votes for that version are sitting far lower. We still have never gotten a feature-complete re-release of Subsistence.
Para mim um dos melhores jogos de todos os tempos e sem duvidas o melhor em termos gráficos junto com shadow of the colossus. Até por que eles fora inicialmente projetados para ps3.
Now this is the game of all time. Another one just sort of offhandedly given to me by a friend who'd finished it, this was my first MGS game and it changed my life. To this day, I annoy my friends by suddenly spouting off MGS lore or trying to find some way to make them listen to the Snake Eater track (that song goes hard). This game is truly iconic in a series of iconic games - who else remembers saving during the fight with The End to change your PS2 clock to [SPOILER] kill him via old age? No one is doing it like MGS3 and no one has done it since.
Why Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (OG) Should Be on GOG Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is a stealth-action masterpiece and a cornerstone of gaming history. With its Cold War setting, emotional story, and survival-based gameplay, it remains one of the most beloved entries in the series. While modern remasters exist, fans still crave the original version—untouched, as it was first released. Unfortunately, the OG Snake Eater isn’t available digitally for PC, leaving many unable to experience it. That’s where GOG comes in. GOG’s commitment to DRM-free access and game preservation makes it the perfect home for the original MGS3. Players could finally own it legally, run it smoothly on modern systems, and relive (or discover) a true classic. With Metal Gear Solid Delta on the way, the time is right. Bring the legendary original Snake Eater to GOG—because great games should never be lost.

FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection
Metal Gear Solid HD CollectionFrom the critically acclaimed director, Hideo Kojima, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection offers a handful of the most popular Metal Gear Solid titles from the past in true HD for the first time ever. Featuring three complete games, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, the HD Collection offers old and new fans a chance to experience the epic game play, design and storytelling of the MGS franchise. The "Metal Gear Solid (MGS)" series is the seminal work of Hideo Kojima, Japan's master game creator, and the progenitor of the stealth action game genre. The series has become a global phenomenon, with over 27 million copies sold worldwide. The player controls a secret agent from an elite special forces unit who is sent on solo sneaking missions through enemy installations, vast jungles, and sometimes even the thick of battle. Alone and surrounded by the enemy, even a special forces agent will find it tough to come out alive. But that is the secret behind the series' popularity-the cerebral challenge of figuring out how to avoid combat, and the thrill of sneaking through enemy territory undetected. The MGS series is also known for its storyline, which blends seamlessly with the gameplay. The scenarios are based on extensive research and incorporate the drama of actual developments in society. These elements have made MGS what it is today: a mature work of entertainment that transcends national borders and the confines of video games, and one of the leading products of the Japanese content business.

Fable: The Lost Chapters
Fable: The Lost ChaptersFable was expanded and rereleased as Fable: The Lost Chapters for Xbox and Windows PC platforms in September 2005. The game was later ported to Mac OS X by Robosoft Technologies and published by Feral Interactive on 31 March 2008. The Lost Chapters features all the content found in the original Fable, as well as additional new content such as new monsters, weapons, alignment based spells, items, armour, towns, buildings, and expressions, as well as the ability to give children objects. The story receives further augmentation in the form of nine new areas and sixteen additional quests. Characters such as Briar Rose and Scythe, who played only minor roles in the original game, are now given more importance and are included in certain main and side quests. Other character-based augmentations include the voice of the antagonist, Jack of Blades, sounding deeper, harsher and more demonic, and the ability to uncover (and resolve) the murder mystery of Lady Grey's sister. The updated edition of the game also applied fixes for certain glitches, such as the "dig glitch," in which the protagonist would move backward each time he used the shovel, pushing him through solid objects and sometimes trapping him.
