Story:Jurassic War is another real-time strategy of its age. There are many similar strategies which are mostly much better, however this one use some different approach, which makes the game worth trying. The game mechanic is pretty simple and even sometimes it is quite hard to make your units do whatever they should do. They mostly disobey especially in a crowded areas but it is quite normal for such games.
This game has a quite different approach compared to the classic strategy line. Your main resource is food, which is not harvested in some sort but your units must hunt the wild animals to collect it.
Collected food must be brought to the food storage. You can build a different buildings in this game, you train a builder for a food who can build the requested building or fight your foes in the meantime. There are plenty of factions, every one with some special ability. Your army consists basically of dinosaurs and humans and everyone gets improved over time so it is good to train some special soldiers in your army who will be better that 10 rookies. Dinosaurs are tougher, but humans can collect numerous objects and use them as a weapons. (such as shields, stones, spears, bows, magical talismans and much more.)Show more

A unique strategy game from my childhood. Food is the only resource, so hunting grounds need to be secured. I love the mix of magic, use of swords and having dinosaurs as controllable units.
Received this game as a gift in CD format, but cannot play it any more due to compatibility issues. Would love to see this game on here.
Absolutely adore this game. What it does different is that all your units are both your builders/army and your Heroes. This is done by allowing any unit to get Experience when they defeat enemies (who lands the killing blow) and gives you a choice - make a balanced army or funnel all the experience into one unit who will then be carrying the entire map for you (with the risk of losing it and basically having to start over). Works better for factions who have mage casters of course. Factions in the game are separated into tribes who have a special unit unique to them, however broadly speaking there are 3 main specializations - crafting tribes, who can make an armory and equip your humans with tools, dinosaur tribes, who can train dinosaurs specific to the faction, or finally the magical tribes, who can make units with corresponding spell casting abilities.
Have my copy but cannot make it work for the life of me. Would love to play it once again and for others to experience this peculiar game for themselves!
I still remember the day when my mom randomly buyed this game for me on a papers store. Loved it so much. Beatifull mix of RTS with RPG. It has nearly all: Dinos, Spells, Beasts, Items. Just missed one thing: a level editor. God bless her!
Dune II: The Building of a DynastyDune II is often considered the first mainstream modern real-time strategy game and established many conventions of the genre. Even though set in Frank Herbert's famous Dune universe, the game is only loosely connected to the plot of any of the books or the films based from them. Controlling either of the three Houses, the player must fight a number of battles against the other Houses. In the early levels, the goal is simply to earn a certain number of credits, while in the later missions, all enemies must be destroyed.
The single resource in the game is the Spice, which must be collected by harvesters. The spice is converted to credits in a refinery, which are then spent to construct additional buildings and units. There are two terrain types: buildings can only be constructed on stone, while the Spice is only found on sand. However, units moving on sand attract the large sandworms of Dune, who are virtually indestructible and can swallow even large units whole. As levels progress, new and more advanced buildings and units are made available, including structures like a radar station, a repair facility or defense turrets and, for units, various ground troops, light vehicles and tanks. Each House can construct one unique special unit, and, after building a palace improvement, can unleash a unique palace effect.Science fiction

Dune 2000 is done with enough of stunt and live-in scenes to pep up the theme and there is a soothing sound score to add to the overall theme. It’s a game based on the Dune series book of Frank Herbert and gives the player a real pleasure of both combat and competition.Action Science fiction

ParaWorldThe game-concept is similar to "Age of Empires", which is a real-time strategy game. ParaWorld features food, wood, and stone as resources. Food can be picked from bushes, hunted from animals, fished from the sea, or farmed. Stone is located in limited deposits, and wood, cut from trees, is generally scattered throughout a map. Battles can occur on both land and sea.
The story takes place in a parallel dimension, where prehistoric life thrives alongside diverse human civilizations that are not technologically advanced. As a result, dinosaurs take the place of traditional wildlife and livestock, though some of the dinosaurs in-game are highly stylized and not necessarily scientifically accurate. Wild-living dinosaurs can be hunted for food, though some are of dangerous and aggressive species and will attack any player unit that wanders too close. Other prehistoric creatures make an appearance as well, for example woolly mammoths are used where other games might feature elephants.
