Story:Grand Prix Legends (nicknamed GPL) is a computer racing simulator developed by Papyrus Design Group and published in 1998 by Sierra Entertainment. At the time of its release, it simulated the 1967 Formula One season and is considered to be one of the most realistic racing games ever released.
The first real sim, whithout it there would be no IRacing,Assetto Corsa,AMS etc.
Thanks to the dedicated mod community it still holds on very well. I hope we'll see a remaster/remake someday.
Basically one of the greatest racing sims ever made, still absolutely immersive and playable with the right mods. Somehow holds up with better singleplayer AI and career than most modern-day sims. If GOG could get a new and definitive release out, it would be doing a genuine service to the sim racing community at large.
Bought it when it came out and played the hell out of it. Incredibly unforgiving but also satisfying physics, great damage model, wonderfully retro graphics, and very unique setting and cars. A must have ... except that you can't anymore .
Wow, what a sim. No really, even a pre-teen me who was awful at this loved this game so much. I still have my copy, even. It just doesn't get better than hearing the scream of your Scuderia Ferraria as it accelerates.
I first remember seeing this game on the store shelf in what was then Babbage's back in 1998. I always wanted it, but I didn't have an up to date PC to run the game at the time. A few years later I bid for a full unopened box copy on eBay and won the bid. I even later found a jewel case copy as well. This title really needs the special attention that ONLY GOG can give it.
