by Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Interactive, Midway Games

Themes:Action, Comedy
Game modes:Single player
Story:"Is it just me, or am I engulfed in flames?" is one of the many one-liners uttered by Gex, a wise cracking gecko who should check himself into television rehab; he's addicted to it. After saving the Television Realm from the evil Rez in his first adventure, the gecko was ready to kick back, relax, and watch a little television. Little did he know his adventure was just beginning. One day, two secret agent goons showed up at Gex's doorstep. They inform him that Rez is back and looking for vengeance; the evil monster is planning to destroy the Television Realm once more...and possibly the world. When Gex tells them that he's retired and doesn't care, one of the goons hits the gecko on the head and takes him to a secluded place. When Gex comes to, the mystery men plead with the gecko to take the cash and help destroy Rez for good...or at least make him disappear. With that incentive (the cash), the wise cracking lizard slips into his special agent suit and plunges headfirst into the Television Realm. Watch out, Rez -- Gex is back!Show more

This is one of my favourite 3D platformer series, and I have so much enjoyment going through the game and it really deserves every praise it gets. I originally played it on the Sony Playstation which I got enamoured with the platforming and humour. However, as a fan of this series. While the Gex Trilogy is a thing. The original PC version of the Gex 3D: Enter the Gecko is actually not currently accessible on any storefronts. While the first games' PC port is always available and on sale most times, which I found pretty odd. So I hope GOG adds the second game to their library and allows us to legally purchase it. It's an obscure PC port published by Ubisoft/Midway. It's nice to have the option to play Gex 3D: Enter the Gecko for Windows 98/XP as originally ported. Not the emulated versions which comes with the Gex Trilogy. It's nicer because first game is already available and has been for years. So having the second entry which was ported to PC would be nice option. Not to mention, it's really not available to purchase in any official/legal capacity.

I loved this game when I was in school. I played it to death with my friends and siblings, mastering the jumping and exploring every nook and cranny of each level to find the last of any secrets. It is a jump and run, but it has a lot of exploration. It has this sense of wonder some modern open world games can't fully give me, as there is something to discover around every corner. The game is full of references to old TV and movies, with a ton of humor, and of course a load of nostalgia attached for me. I recently tried to get it running on my modern machine, which barely worked. But it was the same feeling again. The game aged really well. And my daughter of 5 loves it too, and constantly wants me to play it again. Unfortunately, the music only barely works, and Gex' one-liners, one of the best parts of the game, are completely missing! I would really like to show her the game as I experienced it first.
It's tough to name just one moment of Gex: Enter The Gecko that changed my life. However I do recall the one I look back on the most favourably, Gex Night. You see I was already a big fan of Gex and so I suggest to my mates that we do a Gex Night together. And so we decided to spend an entire night on a phone call just sitting there playing Gex. One by one they fell to their tired states but I stood tall, inevitably being crowned the Gex Champion as I was the last man standing that night. I'll never forget it. Tail Time came into our lives and left the second we took it for granted. Bring Gex: Enter The Gecko to the GOG store. The fans need it.

Played it the first time on the N64 at a friend's house and I honestly thought the game saved on the cart. The quotes were so random, and we loved it. Got the chance to 100% play on the PS1 version years later and started looking for everything Gex after that. I thought that all 3 Gex was on GOG but seeing there's only the first one is a shame. Until Gex Trilogy finally comes out, this one deserves to be here. Fingers crossed for PC Gex 3 (maybe?).
to me one of the best 3D plataformers ever made and one of my favorite games ever together with DKC2 and Crash 2, i gre up playing it but never got too far, then some years ago i re visited it, beat it with 100% and became obsessed, i beated it many other times since and did all the achievements on the ps1 and 64 versions, sadly the 64 version is really bad, but the ps1 is pretty much perfect, a shame 1 and 3 aren't as great, they could use a remake. the collectables here and specially the sounds and the flow of the levels feels so satisfying, the movement allowing some really cool skips and platforming, the concept of the media dimension and the Gex universe itself, its all amazing, we NEED a gex 4, bring Dana Gould to write and play him, bring Marliece Andrada to reprise her role as Agent Xtra and keep the same collectables and gameplay/movement that are on Enter the Gecko and thats it, perfection, even more if they could somehow get the team from this game back together(also put him on kingdom hearts, i wanna see Nomura drawing Gex).

Black & White 2
Black & White 2In the game, the player takes the role of a god called from the void (nothingness) to help those who invoked them. However, the player is not an omnipotent style god, but rather a god who rises and falls with his believers and the player must help develop their nature according to their good or evil desires. The player also has a creature, their physical representation in the world, which takes the form of an anthropomorphic ape, lion, wolf, turtle, cow, or tiger. Its physical manifestation can grow to an immense size, and adopt a good or evil persona separate of the player's. They develop their character as the player rewards or punishes their actions. In addition to the god simulation and city-building elements introduced in the original Black & White, Black & White 2 also features elements of real-time strategy gameplay, with the addition of controllable warfare and fighting units.

Freelancer
FreelancerEight hundred years prior to the start of our story, bitter conflict divided all of mankind. A handful of colonists struck out on their own to begin anew - far away from the Earth and its turmoil. Several ships were launched with enough equipment and supplies to give the hundreds onboard a fighting chance - but since the area around far-off Sirius had never been surveyed, no one really knew what to expect. What they found was a new frontier of free-flowing natural resources, unexplored territories, great wonders and lurking dangers. Each ship, representing the clusters of people and their earthly place of origin, settled into different parts of the galaxy pre-selected by their ship-board computer to give them the best chance of survival. Life was hard in the beginning, but over the 800 years the different colonies prospered and expanded their territories, claiming more and more systems for their own. Survival and propagation eventually led to growth and profit as each of the colonies developed specialties and fostered commerce. As the colonies grew and time passed their connections with their roots on Earth dwindled and they lost their memories of the conflicts of the past. Soon their attention was dominated by new, more immediate conflicts. Feelings of lost ancestral connection spurred anachronism in the look of the great cities, and created a somewhat distorted image of each colony's cultural heritage. In the ever-expanding outer edge of the territories, frontier lawlessness prevailed. The Houses: Each shipboard colony that left Earth carried some memory of its origins in its name. The Liberty carried Americans, The Bretonia flew from The United Kingdom and surrounding territory, The Kusari from Asia, and the Rheinland launched with Germanic cargo. As each ship settled and colonies began to expand, they knew little about each other and their advancing development. Finally, little by little, the individual colonies found each other and began to set up trade routes to link their systems for commerce and solidarity. Today, with each colony firmly rooted in its respective corner of the galaxy, the colonies rely heavily on each other for trade and industry but also compete for resources and new territories in the Border Worlds. The colonies mandate member governments in "The New Alliance" within the Sirius sector. To control conflicts, each colony has forged alliances and treaties with others as they have grown. Competition remains fierce, however. Struggles rage for supremacy in business, commerce, resources, power and control. There can be tenuous peace between colonies' political agendas, but the grabs for holdings constantly unsettle the volatile frontier.

Dune
DuneDune is a 1992 video game, based upon Frank Herbert's science fiction novel of the same name. Developed by Cryo Interactive, is the first of the Dune computer games. Dune blended adventure with economic and military strategy, and is considered by many the most immersive Dune computer game. Loosely following the story of the novel, the game casts the player as Paul Atreides, with the ultimate goal of driving the Harkonnen from Planet Dune, while managing spice extraction, military, and later, ecology through the native Fremen tribes. As the player progresses, his troops are equipped with weapons from "crysknives" to atomics, tap into Paul's latent psychic powers, and get acquainted with such characters from the book as Chani and Liet-Kynes.
