Shadrac_ita: This isn't a GOG fault in my opinion..... Some software houses doesn't like their fanbase.

WeakSet: It kind of is because GOG isn't just plain DRM free shop, but it also adds one more SDK for game developers to learn and include in their game. I guess it is optional, but most likely highly recommended. Steam is much older and widely used, so it is more polished and well-documented.

Communication part of this issue is of course not GOG's fault.
So is it GOG's fault that the devs don't even come to the forum to post when is the update gonna be available?
Every time someone contacts them they always say it's coming soon, in a few days, yada yada. They keep moving the goal post. I cannot fathom what could possibly be so difficult about making a patch for the GOG version. I emailed them over a week ago and got the same canned response. I love GOG and what they stand for, but if you buy indie games from them you're taking a big gamble on getting proper support and updates because this isn't the first time GOG users got the shaft. Regardless of who's to blame, from now on I'm only buying good OLD games from GOG. I'm not buying new games and hoping that I get the same content and support as Steam users. I'll stick to filling my library with old classics.

The update still isn't available... I find this really sad. I wouldn't have
expected that indie games don't get the same love on GOG like on Steam.

I'm really eager for this update and I still hope it'll come soon!
Yeah, this is getting silly. I don't remember the last time a game not receiving a patch because it was on a different platform.
I "tweeted" GOG and Playtonic this morning(I'm in the U.S. it's 11:33am)to ask where the patch was for YL. Told them politely that it was bad customer service. I'm sure if they respond it'll be "it hit a few snags again...next week!".

As Moose said above, they keep moving the goal posts everytime they're questioned on it and I believe at this point THEY DON"T KNOW *if* or *when* the patch will even go live here. They're just telling us what we want to hear so we forget about it.

I'm tempted to ask for a refund. Any chance they'll honor a refund?

I can imagine that they give the GOG users some extra to make up for the wait time.

It's really weird that the patch still isn't out. Did they forget the GOG version?

I guess tweeting the devs won't help anymore when they say the same thing
over and over again. All we can do is wait.
I bought the game on GoG to support DRM free and because GoG Galaxy was promising a couple of the same features Steam has; but since the launch of this game was about a day or two late and the patch still hasn't arrived; it seems this service is only good for older games and not for new ones that do a lot of updates and patching. I don't see a game like Rocket League working here with all it's constant updates.

This has nothing to do with GOG. Devs can push out updates themsevles same as on Steam. A game like Rocket League or any game with a lot of updates can work fine here, they simply have to upload the patch and it will be instantly available on Galaxy. Many devs do this properly.

Granted there are certain differences between Steam build and a GOG build due to API's offered by Steam and Galaxy but for the most part the patches should be largly the same.

If a patch is late it's because of the devs for whatever reason, justifed or not... one or two bad experiences doesn't invalidate how good GOG is.

Sometimes it simply comes down to indie devs not having the resources to support more than one platform at a time, and sadly that means Steam is usally the priority because it is the market leader. In my view though, if you can't support more than one platform then you shouldn't be releasing on more than one.

Apparently, only the Steam version has gotten the update. Consoles haven't gotten it yet either.

BK-appreciate the input but this is not Playtonic's doing. The patch has been made available and it's GOG that have to distribute said patch to us. That they're holding it up for some reason is not the fault of Playtonic. Anyways, I'm even tired of posting here about it at this point. I'm beginning to think we may never get a proper patch.

Terrible customer service.

How do you know it's GOG's doing? From what we have been told devs can now push out updates themseves via Galaxy which then GOG makes available via standalone installers for site users. The patch isn't currently on Galaxy. They zero reason to hold up the patch for Galaxy users because Galaxy patches are untested due to rollback. They only reason patches get held up is for testing for standalone installers and technical issues, so unless the patch broke something it would not be held up. So what makes you think it's GOG? If Playtonic hasn't provided the patch, there is nothing GOG can do about it.

Has Playtonic said they have made the patch available to GOG? I don't believe they have... but I could be wrong. They can't take the patch from Steam or anywhere else, it has to come directly from the developer.

IF you are refering they meant GOG when they said " "It's been held up by a last minute issue - we're told it's aiming for a midweek release" this doesn't mean they meant GOG. A support person for Playtonic probably meant they have been told that by Playtonic upper managment or devs working on the game.

GOG has nothing to do with patches other than testing them for standalone installers and putting on the site. Slight delays for site patches are always due to testing or issues with packaging the patch for standalone installers, which again does not impact Galaxy. Major delays between GOG and Steam are typically always caused by the developers not sending GOG the recent patches.

So unless you have something where Playtonic specifically said they sent the patch to GOG, which they may have but I haven't seen it... then you are laying the blame at the wrong company here.

I'm eagerly awaiting the patch. I've been wanting to speedrun this game since I finished it, but that was about the time the update came out for steam. Since I gotta learn all the tricks and stuff, it would help to not have to sit through dialogue and cutscenes to grind out attempts.

Slender-you'll be waiting awhile. I doubt it's coming anytime soon. They're saying what people want to hear. That's it.
