Hi i can't activate the DirecX 10 graphics option. Can anyone help me with this problem?

I'm also having issues, DX10 is always not selected when I go into the options menu. When I click it, it says DX10 will be applied when WiC is restarted but after I restart it, its not selected anymore.

Which version of Windows are you running?

I have managed to get the game running DX10 in Windows 7 without crashing.

1. I had to uninstall Windows update KB2670838. Even then it wouldn't run in DX10 by selecting the in-game menu.

2. So I edited the WiC shortcut on my desktop. Right click, then select properties and add to target -dx10, to look something like this:
"G:\Games\World in Conflict - Complete Edition\wic.exe" -dx10

I've also read you can select DX10 by going to C:\Users\(my profile)\Documents\World in Conflict, open the game options.txt and change "myDX10Flag 1" to "myDX10Flag 0".

Hi sorry that it took so long to notice that somebody had replied to my post.
I am using Windows 10 and I can play but the crashes because of a lack of memory apparently and I don't know why.
DirectX 10 functions don't work but everything else with the graphics works fine.

I don't know of Windows 10 fixes unfortunately, didn't come across any during my search. If you can't find a fix online you may need to contact GOG support.

Thanks I did try and contact gog support and I am waiting on them to respond to my latest email.
I've tried forcing DX10 by setting the config to read-only, it stays enabled, but I don't think any of the DX10 effects are working.

Also 3D craters are not working either

I'm on Windows 10 64bit and i've not had any memory issues. Not sure whats going on with yours.

It seems that problem takes forever to get fixed. Shame, such a gem just flawed a bit...
Hi all.

When selecting "USE DX10 RENDERING" on the video settings, the game warns that the changes wil take effect after its restart. After the restart the "USE DX10 RENDERING" box is unchecked, as well as "SHADOWS FROM CLOUDS". In order to force these settings you have to do the folowing;
On your hard drive, follow the path [Users->"Your PC name"->Documents->World in Conflict->Game Options.txt]. Open the "Game Options.txt" using the "Notepad" and set the values of the settings "myDX10Flag" and "myCloudShadowsFlag" to "1". Afterwards close the text file and through its properties set its "Attributes" to "Read-only".
Now the settings are forced and will not be automatically disabled next time you run the game. All the DX10 features will be perfectly functional and the version of the renderer used by the game can be checked (if you still have any doubts) by using "MSI Afterburner".

Cheers.

This doesn't seem to enable the DX10 features though. No volumetric clouds, soft smoke, dynamic ground, etc.

Hi mfxa.

WiC is not a "real DX10" game.
It only qualitatively and imperceptibly improves the effects, lighting and shadow complexity, as well as the cloudmap by including cloud shadows.

Cheers.
