Meh, tried to edit this to be more specific but it got all screwed up. But I see you got it anyway. Good.

tinyE: How are you playing with pounds?
avatar
OldFatGuy: Under settings check the box next to Imperial. Uses imperial (US) weights and lengths instead of metric.
I see that....NOW. XD

Starting over. Not going to waste money on fly fishing or ice fishing gear....or wobblers. I've never caught a thing on those! In this game or IRL.

On a side note, what is everyone playing on, Standard or Realistic?

Ive started over several times myself... and right now I'm playing with two profiles lol. Don't know why... I just am. I'm keeping them both about the same. I made level 10 in the other yesterday so today I've been playing with the one that's still at level 9 to get it to 10.

I'm playing on realistic. I've never even tried standard.

I was avoiding realistic because I just assumed it involved the thousands of twitches and ticks involved casting/reeling along with reading wave patters, shadows, temp. Turns out it just turns off stuff I wasn't using because it was cheating, like fish vision and that stupid camera.

It's not too big a deal (for me at least) as it said it was mainly fixing issues with using multiple rods... and I don't do that anyway. Although maybe at some point I'll want to try it out. That's the only thing I saw listed on the change log but I was just skimming the page and might have missed something as I was focusing on the dates to see if in fact Steam had an update we didn't and sure enough they do.

OldFatGuy:
With the tourist season kicking off, I have a lot less free time than I do in the winter, and here I am spending all of that limited free time playing this and Fire Pro Wrestling.

Does this count as "hitting rock bottom"? :P
Well I just went ahead and bought all 3 DLC's after all. Haven't installed them yet though.

36 pound brown trout! Betty Lake.

On Realistic mode, when your using a float, do you just see the hook in the top right corner?

This is a bitch if I can't see the float.

There's a setting under options where you make the float look bigger (up to 200% IIRC) or, do what I did and buy the much bigger floats. But yeah, especially that first one that you get is hard to see sometimes. But I do okay with the ones I'm using now. Of course I only have 1 level of Strength so I'm not casting out over 100 feet. I suppose if you're casting further than that it would get difficult to see no matter what size you had. I think casting further than that was meant for bottom fishing or fishing with lures. I do okay not casting further than that I think. I've caught some nice fish.

But anyway the easiest and quickest way to see it better is to go to Options, scroll down, and you'll see a box with float size and click in there somewhere to increase it's size and if you go all the way to the right I think it increases it 200%. (screenshot)

Oh, to answer your question, yeah, the only thing you see in the upper right hand corner is the hook (and bait you're using). Does it show the float and when it['s moving in standard mode up there?

Does it show the float in the upper right corner under standard mode? And when it's moving? Meaning you don't have to watch out where you cast?

And I wish I knew what those three settings under tension did.

Yes. Which to me does not make in unrealistic.

IRL floaters are specifically designed to be able to easily see even from a good distance. Making it that hard to see is the opposite of realistic.
