You can get Unfinished Business to work with the GOG version, if you don't mind having to edit the dosboxTR.conf file every time you want to switch between Tomb Raider 1 and Unfinished Business.

Download "Unfinished Business - 3DFX Edition" from tombraiderchronicles.com:
http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/tr1/gold/demo.html

Extract the files into the "Tombraid" folder in the GOG install directory - C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Tomb Raider 1 2 3\Tomb Raider 1\TOMBRAID

Next, look for the file "DosboxTR.conf" in the main "Tomb Raider 1" folder, and open it in Notepad (you may want to just copy out a backup of this file to be safe so you can restore it easily if you need to).

Go right to the end of the text file, and look for the entry that looks like this:

mount C .
imgmount d ".\game.dat" -t iso -fs iso
c:
cd TOMBRAID
cls
tomb.exe
exit

Change the line "tomb.exe" to "tombub.exe" (without the quotation marks). Then run the game from the Tomb Raider 1 shortcut. When you want to change back to Tomb Raider 1 again, just change the line back to "tomb.exe".

DIsclaimer: Try this at your own risk, though it worked for me with no problems.

Thanks, that sounds excellent!

OTOH, how could maybe a separate shortcut be made? That would make it like perfect and all, I bet!
Yeah, I thought that I might be able to do that by making a copy of the Tomb Raider 1 folder, but I've not yet figured out how to make it work. Editing the DosboxTR.conf file is the simplest way I've found so far.

I've tried that. It keeps saying that Access is denied when I edit the config file.
Are you using Windows 7? It could be the UAC that's causing that (I didn't have any trouble editing the file, but I've turned the UAC off). You may be able to copy the file out to another folder, edit it there, and then copy it back in to replace the old one.
An easy way to switch between the core game and the addon:

1. Create a copy of dosboxTR.conf to the same folder and change the extension to .bak
2. Edit dosboxTR.bak, changing the line tomb.exe to tombub.exe
3. Create a batch file in the same folder with the following text:
rename dosboxTR.conf dosboxTR.tmp
rename dosboxTR.bak dosboxTR.conf
rename dosboxTR.tmp dosboxTR.bak
pause

The default game will be the core, to run the expansion:
Just double click the batch file and it will enable the expansion.
Run again and it toggles back to the core game.

Anyone had any luck getting Golden Mask to recognise a GOG install, or does it absolutely need a disc in the drive?
Hi all, you can play to the standalone version of Tomb Raider 2 The Golden Mask available at www.tombraiderchronicles.com only need this patch ul.to/a2bqbroj

The patch enable audio support, contains audio tracks in wma format and executable modified to play audio tracks.

For Tomb Raider Unfinished Business i recommend you use the package prepared for GOG.com by me www.gog.com/en/forum/tomb_raider_series/hires_tomb_raider_1 because the files available at www.tombraiderchronicles.com are incomplete. When you extract the TOMBUB package into Tomb Raider 1 folder, edit the dosboxTR.conf file:

[autoexec]
# Lines in this section will be run at startup.
# You can put your MOUNT lines here.

mount C .
imgmount d ".\gold.dat" -t iso -fs iso
c:
cd TOMBRAID
cls
tombub.exe
exit

Hi, Im using Windows 7 x64 and this is how I got it to work:
1. Download version from "Tomb Raider Chronicles"
2. Open it with some archive tool (Peazip, WinRar, ...)
3. Extract files somewhere and run setup.exe
4. During installation, when you get to the "Choose path", point to your GOG Tomb Raider 2 installation folder
4. run "Tomb Raider 2" (tr2.exe), not tr2gold.exe

Be carefull, once you install it this way, you won't be able to run original game without reinstalling it first. To avoid that, you could backup "tombPC.dat" from backup folder before you install expansion, and restore it when you want to play original game.
I am trying to play the Golden Mask expansion for Tomb Raider 2 but I can't find an installer that works for me.

The download from http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/tr2/gold/demo.html says it is not compatible with my version of Windows, which is a 64 bit Windows 7.

The download from http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/vista/tr2g_demo.html says it can't detect my operating system.

Can someone give me any pointers to where to download another installer or how I can get one of these two to work?

Try these. If nothing else she can help you work around your problem. She is IT when it comes to TR.

I already tried that site. It just links to the tombraiderchonicles installer, which won't detect my operating system. I am going to try to ask in their forums. Thanks.

The post above you explains everything you have to do. You have to extract the installer with WinRAR or 7-Zip.
I read some of you have trouble making shortcuts for the normal game and the UB version. Fear not, because instead of studying, I have achieved a solution. It involves some .bat files and might sound boring, but works nevertheless. (And I think it is quite confortable once made :P ).

So, what have I done?:

1) I read this and followed it, STEP BY STEP

2) I renamed tomb3dfx.exe and tombub.exe to Tomb Raider.bak and Tomb Raider UB. bak. Then, I ensured they were both placed under the TOMBRAID directory.

3) I also copied to that folder the original shortcut which GOG made (Launch Tomb Raider 1), which was originally placed at the Tomb Raider 1 install directory, and renamed it to TR

4) I went back to the install directory and created 2 text files (right click stuff) and named Tomb Raider.bat and Tomb Raider UB.bat

5) I edited Tomb Raider.bat and wrote THIS (and nothing else):

CD TOMBRAID
Copy /y "Tomb Raider.bak" "Tomb.exe"
start TR.lnk
exit

6) I edited Tomb Raider UB.bat and wrote THIS (and nothing else):

CD TOMBRAID
Copy /y "Tomb Raider UB.bak" "Tomb.exe"
start TR.lnk
exit

7) I created a shortcut for each .bat file, put Lara's face on them and placed them wherever I pleased.

8) I played.

If you skip any detail, it won't work. If you use my code, but name the files otherwise, it won't work. It can be done better, that's for sure, but this crappy method works.

The .bat files copy the required exe (thus, not destroying it), rename it to tomb.exe (so the game can be played) and starts gog shortcut (so I don't have to do anything else). The .bat overwrites the previous tomb.exe, so you can change the game without a problem.
I attach a photo of my folders, so you can see where I placed the files.
And that is all, folks. I hope it works for you ;)
