Ravinius: As in the title the intro movies (both before the menu and the one after creating a new character and starting a game with him) don't play. The game otherwise works like a charm. The strange thing is those movies play just fine if I open them in windows media player, from outside the game.

LiqMat: Even after the Sept. 1st update today my intro movie freezes after a few seconds of play so I hit esc to skip and carry on.

LiqMat: Well, weird, restarted the game again and now the videos playback fine. Don't know what changed, but it works.
I thought that update was just language. I ignored it.
Hi everyone. For me replacing binkw32.dll from the Titan Quest main directory with a version from X-COM game fixed the problem. Intros now playing fine.
Don't know if this will work for everyone.

PS: intros are skippable

Great, so now I have to buy X-Com to get Titan Quest to work? :P

Any game using Bink Video should have that file.

Oh hey, dig the avatar BTW. Stupid question, is there a way to tell if a game uses Blink?

If a game uses Bink Video you should find the "binkw32.dll" in the directory where the executable file for the game is located. I just searched my game folder for binkw32.dll and picked one.
Some examples for games using Bink: Skyrim, Dragon Age Origins, Fallout New Vegas, Civ IV, Fallout 3.....

Mostly if a game uses bink you will find some *.bik files in the game folder or any subfolder. These are the pure movie files. If you don't want to search for a game to get the latest binkw32.dll just download the RAD Video Tools from here: http://www.radgametools.com/bnkdown.htm - they should include binkw32.dll afaik.
Yay, today I finally got response from GOG's so called "tech support".

Run as admin
Reinstall DirectX
Reinstall VCredist
Install RAD Video Tools (BIK)
Deactivate your Firewall

Really GOG? This is your idea of a good support? I've learned this in my school time. If this is what GOG support does I won't bother to open up a ticket next time. Really disappointed - this is PC 101.

Um, what exactly is your problem? You haven't posted any problem of yours in this thread so far. And the intro movies should be fixed with the latest GOG version. No offense intended.

I don't have a problem anymore (and I posted my problem - which was the same one as everybody elses here - in another thread) but that is not the point. I know that the problem has been fixed with an update.

The reason I was posting this is that I think the tech supports solutions are ridiculously basic. I am pretty sure that only the minority of users here on GOG would find those "reinstall this and reinstall that" suggestions useless because everybody witll have tried such simple things before even contacting support.

Another fun fact is that I got my answer today and there was not a single sentence mentioning that this already was fixed which means they don't even have contact with the development department. To say it frankly: there was not ONE time were the support could help me. There were several times were I suggested workarounds for them but all in all imo the GOG tech support is completely worthless.

Well, I imagine they are basic because you have to start somewhere and work from that. But I haven't used GOG's tech support before, so I don't know. I was just wondering why you're posting a rather direct complaint to GOG in this thread, where the likelyhood that a staff member looks into it is pretty low.

Oh this is hardly the case. The GOG stuff reads several threads in this forum especially when it is about technical complaints. Since you have not yet used tech support it's understandable that you cannot understand my issue. But having received several of the exact same mails whenever I open up a ticket let me see this different.

Let me offer a suggestion, then :) If you do not want the Support staff working on your ticket to ask you to start off with the basic troubleshooting steps then feel free to let them know when you first write your ticket what you have already done to try and solve your problem :)

Please keep in mind that our Support staff gets thousands of tickets a day, we can't access a person's computer remotely to really see the root of the problem, and thus that's why you get the initial steps and then further work can be done to address the problem once we rule out all possible solutions :)

You are right and that is a good idea, Judas - I will do so in the future.

Speaking of things that should be done different: are there any news regarding the updated Witcher 3 Installers? As you can read here the new GOTY installer has several advantages to the one we are now using. Unfortunately after some nice "we will ask because we usually try to do everything possible" reaction on German Facebook there is complete radio silence now from both CDPR and GOG regarding this topic. So basically this is a signal for never again buying early. I really don't understand why GOG/CDPR let buyers of the single releases down here. Please don't tell me that it's impossible because you've done things like this several times before.
