KiNgBrAdLeY7: I hate steam with passion and consciousness, and i would rather vote GoG with my wallet!
fronzelneekburm: Bigshot publishers will not even consider offering their new games DRM-free as long as people willingly buy DRMed games.
If you really hate Steam with a passion,
DO NOT BUY THE GAME FROM STEAM! Not even if it's the only place that offers it (which will definitely be the case). If more people who claim to hate places like Steam made good on their word and actually refused to buy from them, the current situation in the PC gaming market might be quite different.
Great advice! It only needs to be rewritten in CAPS! I hate DRM, Steam itself, and Steam exclusive releases so much, that i would abandon gaming entirely if those things were the only way to the future of pc gaming! I am still angry about titles i purchased in retail, and the vendor did not warn me that they can only be played through steam; i still mourn the money spent on them, as well as the time i DID NOT SPEND in them.
Thief is sad. Has always been one of the best, most beloved, cult franchises out there; unique to both the genre (stealth, it started it) and the gaming in its entirety. Evil begun with deadly shadows, which was consolized and ported in pc. Now, thief 4, is also going to be heavily consolized (they even put off its release until next gen consoles is out!), but also a crappy port, AND a steam exclusive (most possibly?)! What is there left not to hate with a passion, exactly? And to think that first two titles were PC EXCLUSIVES, and made with extreme talent, polishing, inspiration and devotion, from the developing team...
No, if it is going to be distributed only through Steam, i am not buying sit from there. I like GoG's policy. Even if steam sells cheaper, it really faqs up your rights and dignity, as a consumer, and insults your intelligence as an intellectual being (crappy services, masquerading as progress, offering you less things for more cash *on the long run*). Even if thief 4 is total crap, if it is here on GoG, i will buy, solely for the previous games' sake (they were unparalleled masterpieces), and for GoG's rightfully earned greasing. Elsewhere? No thanks.
