Up until recently, the only place i can see this on sale (preorder), is Steam. Since gog already owns all thief titles up to present, will you distribute thief 4 here, too? I would prefer purchasing it off of GoG, ANYTIME! I hate steam with passion and consciousness, and i would rather vote GoG with my wallet!

it would be really nice, but I would be quite surprised. not much of a steam fan either, mostly because of the 1$=1€ policy.

Yeah that's BS Here in Australia we get it worse. Steam prices our games in the US dollar and changers around 99 USD. It's like admitting yeah you're not good enough to pay the slandered price.

Bigshot publishers will not even consider offering their new games DRM-free as long as people willingly buy DRMed games.

If you really hate Steam with a passion, DO NOT BUY THE GAME FROM STEAM! Not even if it's the only place that offers it (which will definitely be the case). If more people who claim to hate places like Steam made good on their word and actually refused to buy from them, the current situation in the PC gaming market might be quite different.

Great advice! It only needs to be rewritten in CAPS! I hate DRM, Steam itself, and Steam exclusive releases so much, that i would abandon gaming entirely if those things were the only way to the future of pc gaming! I am still angry about titles i purchased in retail, and the vendor did not warn me that they can only be played through steam; i still mourn the money spent on them, as well as the time i DID NOT SPEND in them.

Thief is sad. Has always been one of the best, most beloved, cult franchises out there; unique to both the genre (stealth, it started it) and the gaming in its entirety. Evil begun with deadly shadows, which was consolized and ported in pc. Now, thief 4, is also going to be heavily consolized (they even put off its release until next gen consoles is out!), but also a crappy port, AND a steam exclusive (most possibly?)! What is there left not to hate with a passion, exactly? And to think that first two titles were PC EXCLUSIVES, and made with extreme talent, polishing, inspiration and devotion, from the developing team...

No, if it is going to be distributed only through Steam, i am not buying sit from there. I like GoG's policy. Even if steam sells cheaper, it really faqs up your rights and dignity, as a consumer, and insults your intelligence as an intellectual being (crappy services, masquerading as progress, offering you less things for more cash *on the long run*). Even if thief 4 is total crap, if it is here on GoG, i will buy, solely for the previous games' sake (they were unparalleled masterpieces), and for GoG's rightfully earned greasing. Elsewhere? No thanks.

KiNgBrAdLeY7:
If it came out here at least we would know someone moderately reliable (the GOG team) tried it out and thought it was worth selling (dodging the whole Steamification issue). I'd probably get it. I had my doubts about the new Shadow Warrior, but was curious enough after GOG added it to pick it up myself, I was not disappointed.

Amen to that... I am happy I am not the only one that noticed... Everyone should hate digital handcuffs, but if they continue buying companies won't care.

most people actually do like them shackles and collars. as long as they are sparkly and comfortable.
Is that so? It would explain a lot in fact...

It would be great if it did - but I see very little chance of it happening. Deus Ex: Human Revolution is from the same team but not a sniff of that here on gog, despite having the two previous Deus Ex titles on here. Those "achievements" tied via steamworks must be oh, so precious.
I'd really like to play the latest Thief game too, but I won't buy it on Steam.

Is it true that there is a co-op mode? I thought I read that somewhere, but it's listed as single player.

I would say a false rumour, there's no official coop anyway and even if there was a mod those are usually notoriously unstable.
I have to say I am pleasantly surprised and really digging the new Thief. Especially how it links back to the original series chronologically but set far in the future (where it can stand on its own).

Yay! Another one! We are a rare breed from what I've found. Especially among people who know the original series. I've read more positive reviews from newcomers to the series, but general hatred from the old guard.
I think the originals are the best. But it was definitely a fun play through. Wish the ending wasn't so abrupt though. Worst ending in the entire series.
