So I recently just finished The Witcher 2, finally, but I played it on Steam and I'm playing 3 on GoG. Is it even possible to import my save? I'd prefer not to go through the interrogation thing.
What platform you bought the game on won't matter - the save file is the save file. However, it may be looking in the wrong place for it (like Steam Cloud).

Take your Witcher 2 saves (which should be located in a folder called "gamesaves") and move them to the following directory (for Windows 7/8):

c:\Users\<your username>\Documents\Witcher 2\gamesaves

You should then have the option to import when starting a new game.
I can confirm that the game detects where the saves are automatically.. I just did it myself and I'd played the game on Steam.
same, works for me
i dont have a witcher 2 save anymore should i DL one and restart??

also aat the beginning if it doesnt detect one you get something saying simulate witcher 2 save & i think i clicked yes, does that mean i missed the conversation where you get to go thru what you did in tw1 & 2?

I would not do that! The import is solely to inform about your decisions in the previous game. And if you do not have the save anymore, I heard you will meet somebody in W3 at the beginning who will ask you, so you can tell him what you decided. This is even more flexible, since you could change your decisions.

Importing the save is just for convenience - not necessary. Simply remember what you did and tell to the NPC.

There's a documents folder in your system with your witcher2 save files. It worked on me ;)
Now I have the exact haircut and tattoo I had on w2.

Thank you, that worked.

No - from what I've read, the conversations happens a little ways in as part of the main quest - you can't miss it :)
What about items? I don't see any of my swords or amors. But I'm in the early hour.
Don't even worry about importing a saved game unless you really want that tattoo. Many of the options are completely ignored. For example Henselt and Stennis are both dead in W3.

So save yourself some worry and just use the interview process. it is much easier and gives you exactly what you want.

EDIT: No equipment, money or any other items are imported from the save. the ONLY thing a saved game can give you is that tattoo.

What the hell, cdpr...

So, I'm sure that there are quests about what happened in W2. Maybe doesn't matter what you did. Disappointing :/

The tattoo even had no effect in a situation where i thought: This could be helpful now.
(Do not want to spoiler so: it happened shortly before Geralt leaves the first area)
I'd like to now why W3 don't want to import my old save files. It always says "failed to import save" -.- And still no answer from support guys(send a ticket 2 days ago).
