Hi peeps,

Not played since August and decided to come back yesterday. After the game patched (took ages), I keep on pressing play on GOG and nothing happens. After trying other things still nothing.

I finally uninstalled the game, reinstalled over night and now same problem.

Anyone else having this issue?

Cheers.
Since GOG Galaxy is still in beta, I'D recommend trying to launch the game w/o it and if that works write a ticket (they should know about this bug)

Uninstall your x64 and x86 C++ Redistributable the give it a fresh install, I had the same problem and that fixed it.

Just out of curiosity - fresh install for C++ stuff or witcher 3?
Hi all,

Thanks for responding.

So I've decided to buy a new SSD and re-install Windows 7. All this to play the game eh :(.

I've just downloaded Witcher 3 via GOG galaxy and ... Now it just flashes once when I press play and then nothing.

I've just rolled back the patch to the first patch and the same problem.

When I click the Witcher Icon again, it says the game is already running????

I'm using the latest ZOTEC 980TI Extreme AMP drivers and now I'm at a complete loss as to what the issue is.

Is it time for me to raise a ticket?

Been gaming on the PC for over 20 years and the last time I had a problem like this was trying to get Wing Commander 2 to work on my 386!!!

Will try removing the x64 and x86 C++ Redistributable and re install and see if that helps.

Anyone any more advise please?

Cheers.

Yup,
fresh install. So go to the Microsoft website and get the installers for x64 and x86, completely uninstall your current C++ then install with the new installers.

As I said in reply to Azulath, I would grab new installers for the x86 and x64 version of C++ Redistributables. completely uninstall you current C++ Redistributables then installs the new ones. I had this issue a few days ago and managed to fix it after looking throughout the internet.

Hope it helps!

Hi Pal,

Well I downloaded the game again but this time I didn't use GoG Gal, I downloaded it using the individual parts without the patch. I also removed the C++ again and reinstalled as you suggested and I've just pressed play and... IT WORKED!!!!

I'm now downloading the patch and with luck it will all be gravy!!!!

Thanks for you help.
Update.

Patched up to the latest version, downloaded all the DLCs, copied my previous saves to the save folder and it all seems to work so far.

Seems the HUD has changed so will have to read all the patch notes :).

So hours of trying, a new hard drive, complete re-install of windows, lots of drivers for stuff to still download, but I've got there in the end.

Time to start playing Metal Gear now :):):):):):).
