Geralt's horse is named Roach in the books. [English Translation of course]

In TW2 Vernon was named 'Roche' not 'Roach'. =)

Thank you for clarifying this. Thought him naming his horse that was some sort of inside joke. Had no idea his name referred to a fish!

About english/french, just to let you know:

A Cockroach = Un Cafard. (A "bug")
A Roach = Un Gardon (A fish)

And since it's a female horse, they changed to "Ablette" in french. I guess.

True, in original polish books, horse name was "Płotka" and it mean small little fish.

When I hear or see 'Roach' in the Witcher universe I think of his horse. It's just a name lost to translation, nothing more, nothing less. Also 'actual, real-world use...' English is not the only language on this earth, and American is definitely not the only dialect.

Considering the wiki link, Roach is indeed an appropriate translation for the horse, given the origin of the original Polish name.

lowest form of living thing? Cockroaches are one of the oldest and most resistent creatures on this planet. They will most likely long surpass the human race in terms of surviving. So I don't get where you got that idea
