Talking about rolling, is my Geralt the only one that likes to roll on its own when going down almost every flight of stairs?
The MOD you need is in your brain, not in the game.

YES, the damage is higher in this game, but if this was made to keep people from going "ASSASSINS CREED", it´s ok for me.

I finished the game without problems. People cant be so lousy when playing. Use this to force you to not make too much stupid moves.

Wow hyper critical (didn't realize I was "so lousy"), guess we can't all be uber-players!!!!

Seriously it's not about playing AC style (although their navigation and combat systems would make this the best game EVER) it is the simple acknowledgment that sometimes you'd open a door and Geralt would do his 3 step shuffle on the landing outside the door, go to far and fall 8 feet and die for god's sake.

That's not a reflection on people's ability that's just game mechanics combined with the fact we are controlling an animated character. The alternative is to toggle walk on all the time and open every door as if it is going to explode. In the forest areas I have been running (impatiently) to get somewhere, run through a bush and fallen 6 - 8 feet and either lost all my health or died. That's not lousy gaming and the effect is way to high a punishment to your health given the distance you fell.

If you read my previous posts you would also have seen the example I gave and you should have experienced it yourself in the quest where you hunt the Chort, you have no alternative to "jump" down into the hole and lose half your health.

If your going to make me fight Harpies on a 6 feet wide ridge and be able to dodge and roll to avoid there attacks, either fall damage over cliffs etc needs to be lower or the game needs to invisibly hand rail the area.

Back to play again and hopefully not be so lousy at it :-(

thanks so much for this helpful and constructive post
it was acid I admit, but I got a point.

i'm too tired to to see games being under leveled.

I think you are completely missing the point.

This has nothing to do with "Under Levelling" the game by which I guess you mean making it too easy. It is just fixing something that has a disproportional impact when playing the game. It also removes the need to either meditate or heal just because the game mechanics inflict a ridiculous and unrealistic penalty on the player for missing a step.

Hell I can jump off a cliff and do a roll and not break my neck (that is under leveling) but I cannot trip down a step without losing half my health.

No no.... i understood. It is really disproportional. you´re really taking more damage than you should when you fall.

I said that the reason for my acid comment was because i´m tired of watching people wanting things too easy, then that impacted on my behavior.

It is personal, I know, but... it happens. Anyway, thanks for replying and trying to make some reason on your explanation.

I don't find it to be disproportionate at all. In fact, I've only died twice from falling damage and once I was almost dead already. The other was in Phillips Eilhart's hideout when I decided to get too close a look over a ledge. You take damage when you fall 10 feet. People take damage when they fall that far, sometimes fatal damage. I've seen people die from a fall off a 12 foot ladder. If you're running too fast and jump into a ravine you didn't expect, it should hurt. If you're going at break-neck speed, it will kill you in the wilderness alone.

I'm not angling for realism, I'm just saying that blasting around everywhere full tilt at a run has consequences and apparently, not being able to stop your momentum is one of them (when talking about blowing through doors). I guess that's why I prefer the controller, no annoying button press to slip into walking mode, I just ease off the joystick.

tl:dr The fall damage is fine, git gud, son.

Really???? So skiing on your boots down a mountain over rocks for 100 meters does NO DAMAGE when you are hitting trees and stop but tripping on a stair takes half your health???

That's got nothing to do with realism. Rather thats completely ridiculous and completely inconsistent with other actions in the game. It's the inconsistency that gets me. Today I accidentally walked too far off the edge of a cliff but Geralt hit the ski's down a 100 meter vertical drop and then stunt rolled at the bottom for NO damage. Walking in a ruin shortly later I jumped off a 4 foot ledge and lost 2 thirds of my health. Thanks nasty Endrega's for waiting while I meditate!!!!

Never run into any of these issues at all. Not saying they don't exist, they just don't exist for me.

Did you do the mission where you have to lure the Chort into it's den? You have to jump into a hole to enter the den and fight it and I know no one who has been able to enter the hole without losing at least half health and having to meditate while the monster kindly waits ;-)

Did that not happen to you?

Haven't played it yet.
Damn Chort cave! Falling in the hole can strip you for up to 80% of health. And it's damn hard to try to roll while falling don the hole.

Stupid cave design.
