revial: I'm going to assume you somehow managed to miss the entire point of my long post, based on your reply. ;p
To simplify it:
Geralt's story in these games looks like it'll be ultimately about reuniting with Yennefer and dealing with the relationship issues between her, Triss, and himself; something that's brewed all throughout the Witcher books. Constant random sex would be a big distraction from that, and that type of activity in the first Witcher game was not very representative of Geralt at all. CPR got away with it because one could say, "amnesia", as well as the story as laid out in the first game hadn't yet let us know that he's going after Yen.
I know the sex cards and constant romping was loved by some players (hey, I spent an ungodly amount of time exhausting the Sile conversations over two different acts to see if she'd fall for Geralt), but let's try to understand why that no longer fits with the narrative as the story continues to unfold. :)
If your reply was directed to me (you didnt say) I got your point, didnt feel it needed commenting on!
We all know what the story playing out as.
You missed a couple of important aspects in your conclussion but ill leave those as spoilers in nature!
But your wrong about the random sex not being apart of the story!
Im assuming you never read any of the stories revolving around Geralt?
So ill simplify it:
I was so taken by the first game I rushed out and found/ordered what ever was reprinted in english and then asked the old witcher forum if there was anymore.
Random sex is very much in character regarding Geralt and I wouldnt hold my breath on it lessening in #3 or beyond.
One of the first stories I read regarding Geralt had him having a random sex encounter with a barmaid. I dare say there was as much written about that as there was about the actual plot line for the short story.
The next story was about him ploughing some female farmer. Oh yeah, he ended a curse as well when he found time.
Random sex is very much apart of the characterization of Geralt and will always be apart of the narrative!
One thing you need to realize with the Witcher is American "sensibilities" are not at work here and do not apply. Even more so when you come to terms that CDProjekt is not a North American company and thus has no political agendas weighting on them. So dont try to apply them as they not going to come to happen.
Sex is always going to play a big role in this enviroment/storyline because thats the enviroment its based on.
I dont know if you noticed yet but other then the virgin hero (I forget name now), Shanni in part 1, and female sorceresses, women in The Witcher play 2 roles mostly. Wives and whores (sometimes both). This isnt Western Fantasy where women have equal rights and every 2nd one attains some seat of power!
Im watching "Game of Thrones" right now on HBO (loving it btw) and the contrast between the two sets of writing is amazing to me. In Game of Thrones, woman hold so much power and influence.
This is not Game of Thrones.
So you have your opinion and I respectfully disagree.
Sex will always play a big role in this setting and will continue to and its got absolutely nothing to do with some players likeing the sex cards or not and everything to do with what this game is based on and where its being made (and the atmosphere and pressures from that region).
At worse they censor The Witcher 3, like they did The Witcher 1, for the American market. But I doubt that as this game made it uncensored and this game was 1000 times more explict with nudity and vulgarity then TW1 was.
PS: Just to be clear, im not saying this is how women should be treated or even protrayed. Im just saying that this is how they are protrayed in the writing and setting the Witcher franchise is based on, and thats not going to change for the third game, the forth game, or any game after that unless CDProjekt suddenly become subservant to American censorship.
LOL, read a post somewhere else were a female player refused to play The Witcher 2 because they didnt offer up a female hero for her to play!
How silly!
Quit burning your bra, lighten up and enjoy the fantasy setting for what it is!
oh and ps: I still want a special card as a acheivement if you manage to bed all of the women in your game :)
