I'm seeing a TON of your posts in this thread to be saying, "Well, that's your opinion," iamin7ove. It's getting tiresome, really. I mean, this whole thread can be easily separated into two groups of people: the reasonable, astute, fun-to-talk-to side who provide solid logic and evidence to support their claims, and you. Those are the two sides, really. And I don't think that you're not reasonable, I merely think you're refusing to accept what people say to get a giggle or two out of it.

I'm going to say again, it's only *your* opinion that the dragon is going to come back and destroy the city. You keep saying, "Well, Sile told me the dragon was going to destroy the city, and that's a fact!" and, "An order is an order unless it's withdrawn or fulfilled!"

Yeah, that was before it got impaled on a tree and the city emptied. This dragon isn't a mindless robot, mind-controlled or not.

I'm going to make this into a list for you, even only taking what you said about standing orders into account so that you can really comprehend what I'm writing.

1. Sile and Philippa ordered the dragon to burn the city to kill everyone, correct?
2. The dragon can't kill anyone by burning down the city now that everyone's gone, right?


Be warned, I'm going into opinions, extrapolation, and other really complicated stuff now. Weird, arcane stuff that you'd call "guesswork, no solid evidences." How much sense would it make for this clearly smart dragon to come back and waste all that effort destroying a city for no reason?

Philippa and Sile have demonstrated that they can telepathically communicate with the dragon (and that's a fact- clearly evidenced when the dragon swoops down and picks up Sile without her verbally commanding it, also when Saskia orders the terms of Henselt's surrender and Dethmold's execution without Philippa needing to say anything).

Both Philippa and Sile can also magically probe locations to learn about them. Fact.

Now that we've got those two facts settled, I make an opinion, an informed opinion: the dragon will either communicate to Philippa/Sile that things didn't go as planned and the city has emptied, or Philippa/Sile will use their scrying magic and see that the city's already empty. Or both. Therefore, the dragon will not come back to burn down the city, because the sorceresses will have rescinded that order. Also, pure speculation, but I doubt they'd need to even tell the dragon not to come back and burn Loc Muinne. It's smart enough, imo, to know that there's no reason to raze the city now.

The order can simply be burning down the city, you know.
For example, in a certain anime i watch, even some smart will only order people to "fire" think it will kill the one being fired. Not everyone will think of saying "fire and kill him" right?

Reason? It was ordered to "turn the city into a flaming tomb"...or an order is not good enough a reason for someone to do something?

Philippa and Sile are running for their lives, especially Phillipa who are probably licking her own wounds. Whether or not they are kind enough to remember telling the dragon to stop rampaging the city if people are all gone is not clear...is it?
My point is that until they have new orders in mind, Philippa and Sile probably leave the dragon alone. And the until the dragon fulfill the order, it's gonna mindlessly trying to.

Whether the dragon reports or not is depend on whether the two sorceresses tell it to or not, yes?
And what's the point of withdrawing the order of burning down the city anyway when there is no new order? which will not be for a while cuz both of them should be busy in licking their wounds



Anyway, the bottom line is that your kind of charm on the dragon
is different from the one i think the dragon has on.

Yours is just too perfect. It's almost like the dragon has a freewill and chose to follow phillipa on its own, using all its knowledge and intelligence on the process. Hell, it can even separate a smart move and what's not and give opinions back to the master.

Mine is less perfect. Mine is a passive mind bound spell that just make the dragon thinks every order given is right and wont think anything other than working on the order

Alrighty. Maybe if I feel energetic, I'll continue this debate. Everything in the post of yours I just read was your spin on things. "Philippa *should* be licking her wounds. The sorceresses *should* be both running for their lives. The dragon won't think of anything other than carrying out an order." Which is fine, I'm okay with that.

I'll just say this for now, just add a bit more to my take on things:

A mindless dragon that had been ordered to turn the city into a flaming bomb would've flown right back to the city with its wound to carry out its order, as it would have no sense of self-preservation to worry about. I mean, in your version of the spell, it dedicates its every thought to fulfilling orders. Philippa, although we don't know how reliable a source she is, claims the mind-control spell simply amplifies Saskia's love for the sorceress, nothing else. Make of that what you want. I personally agree that it would make every order Saskia gets seem right, but I don't think the dragon would lose all higher brain functions under such a spell. A very well-crafted spell if you ask me. One that purposefully *doesn't* turn the dragon into a brainless hunk of fire-breathing scales and meat.

Philippa and Sile would be running for their lives if they weren't gosh-darned sorceresses. One teleported away if you saved her and the other flew off as an owl, untraceable. Although I do grant you that Philippa would most likely be busy fixing her eyes for a bit.

Making sure the people in the city died/ finding out if the dragon succeeded or not WOULD still be high, if not on the top of, the sorceresses' priority list, as those people in Loc Muinne were onto the Lodge's plot and needed to be silenced before they could spread the word around. Imo.

Radovid lived...and he was quite bare on sight. He was even trapped-no reason not to kill him unless the order was not to do so

A blind owl is not that hard to trace. And Philip's owl form is famous. Not to mention there are other methods exclusively to professional witch hunters Letho mentions.

Sile's teleport might seem almighty in running but Letho is almost sure royal-witch hunters gonna get her. Who knows, some might already be at Sile's supposed hideout.

Anyway, my point is
"The earth is round."
So, rather than running for their lives the sorceresses will have to build something to defend their lives. The dragon should be far from their place at that moment, you know. I mean who hides at a place near your crime scene.
