Sincerly i hated oblivion, in the beginning is quite fun, but on the long run I found it quite boring and repetitive!

Germanicanus: I say BIG FAT NO to Baldur's Gate 3. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE this series (one of my 3 favorite games all the time), and this is why I don't want to see it being ruined by being Action cRPG with limited interactions between companions, simplified plot and only lasting 40 hours for the sake of improving graphics and new combat system. No, no, no, no! We were promised our "Baldur's Gate's successor" - Dragon's Age - and look what happened. The time of old-school crpgs has, sadly, ended and trying to refresh it would only ended in a failure.
By the way, TW2 needs to achieve a great success on a console market before trying to compete for GOTY throne, IMO.
I could not agree with you more... (+1 rep)

The spins off the good title and memory of good gaming are ruining the very name they are spinning from. We are indeed talking here about Dragon Age and Old Republic MMO crap. Though this is certainly not limited to BioWare...

Certain things should be simply left alone for every story has a beginning, middle and end, you start touching that and you end up with a mess that Star Wars is...

I think I do, too, but am still in denial. I have it installed, lots of beautification mods installed, and yet, I cannot find the strength to launch it...

TW2, on the other hand, has me just waiting for the next patch to reinstall it and have my 3rd go around.

I think that's the difference strong narrative makes in a game. Open-world is a fun gimmick and traipsing about carelessly is great in the short-term, but the kind of compelling narrative that more linear games deliver is what keeps you coming back for more time and time again.

That's a good point and just added some much needed perspective to my gaming. I was just thinking, the other day, about how much my game tastes have changed over the years.

I remember playing Morrowind for a few hours, too many bugs to play it very long, and wanted more of it. I thought the open customization and free world were spectacular. When I heard about Oblivion, I jumped all over it.

Now that I have a working game that's almost as wide open as the world is small, I don't want it. I don't feel compelled to hear the game speak to me, because Oblivion's story is just a collection of very short stories. I feel like there are no epic points along the game's progression.

The Witcher series, on the other hand, do have that. Although I've played through TW1 and enjoyed it to some degree, I feel that TW2 is vastly more entertaining and fun, because of its story and how questing was changed from the TW1 model to follow a story pattern.

I like watching great movies for the story, but dislike the lack of involvement in just sitting there watching it. What I think TW2 brings to me is the chance to play a movie, not just watch it.

Reading my mind, what kind of witchery is this! ;-)
I don't understand how a game not released can win any awards or be even considered officially. The only ones to have played them are beta testers and critics (not counting leakage).

So IMO Witcher 2 is RPG GOTY. ...end of line.

On a side note I adore the Elder Scrolls series and do plan on getting Skyrim....since my birthday is 11-11-11 AND I'll be getting 111 lotto tickets for my birthday. WOO HOO...good to have a plan.
deus ex 3 may have better gameplay, but the art design looks like crap. humans are not that tall, why artist cannot realize that?

Because it's Square-Enix. All of their characters are heavily influenced by anime.
The Witcher 2 is a great game, but I wont nominate it for GOTY.
My main complain is that it is too short. No news for expansion or big addon, at least devs try to kill the bugs with patches.

Skyrim on the other hand I can't say for sure if it is going to be a bug free game, but from the news so far it looks very very promising. All the Beth games are hits I doubt this one will miss.

There will be folks crying about bugs, getting bored in the sand box and missing the linear maps and story driven world, but at the end I think Skyrim is going to win over Witcher 2.

My personal opinion is that both games are not really comparable. They are different on many aspects. It's more appropriate to compare Witcher to Dragon age, but since Dragon age 2 was total fail there is no chance to it even compete for GOTY.

No, you shouldn't judge the game only because of its mark. I don't care if it's made by Bethesda and has "TES" on the cover , I'll judge it once I play it.
I don't judge by the cover or, because of Bethesda.

I read devs articles etc, stalk the forums there and any other game magazines with Skyrim news. So far the news are excellent. Many new things I like.

I did the same for The Witcher 2. I was sceptical of some of the "new" things added and unfortunately, those are my major gripes with the game now.

I wasn't disappointed with Witcher 2 and hope for the same with Skyrim, just I don't think W2 is going to win.
Whats all the hate about Skyrim? Its not even released yet. I've seen the trailer which looks OK. But I've not read anything else about it. I played Elder Scrolls IV several years ago and it was OK.
Skyrim is console-mainly flashy pretty sandbox without any actual goal nor logic, just as the mediocre Oblivion.

Don't you dare to compare it to the Elder Scrolls, they are dead since the Bloodmoon.
