cbarbagallo: What's knda sad for them is that at launch there was nothing but hype and ggod will towards Team Red. But due to the patch being delayed and the forum debacle, they are slowly but surely burning all their bridges.
It's sad though..because this is marring their image..or has potential to.

I for one don't care, I still support them and what they are doing. If people keep posting stupid idiotic posts and comments, all it will do is piss them off, messing up the future of the company.

They are still a hard working company who has worked hard for us as gamers and we should respect that.

Until you work for one of these companies yourself and can prove that you can do a better job at all aspects..stop making stupid comments.

This is just how it is in ANY technology based business. Things happen. Unforseen things. It is what it is.

Now if they start doing things purposefully wrong or shady (EA anyone?)..then we will have more of a right to be upset.

As it stands..people are just being stupid...CDPR deserves better.
although i love CDPR they still need to be more vocal about what is happening. right now we are really in the dark.

a good company always stays informative. leaving your player-base in the dark is not a good way to go about things

Launcher has been unable to connect for a while now..wonder if this is a sign that something is about to go live?
They deserve nothing but my money and continued patronage as a shopper if their product/support is good enough. At present neither is at it's best. I owe them no respect for making a game. I pay my respects by buying their products end of.

jlibster: Wow! Based on responses to inquiry in this 800+ post forum here, it sounds like the patch you used actually INSTALLED DRM. (assuming you purchased the GOG version) Man, oh MAN....I think the jury is in; Folks don't install the accidently leaked patches floating around on non-official sites. Could be poison to your Witcher 2 install. I'm now pretty confident that is why they removed yesterday's links.
Um... do you expect me to re-apply the patch to confirm this, when the install is done and after I made sure it isn't in a clean install? :D
Its not that we are ungrateful for a great game, its just that we live in the age of ruthless competition, we as consumers have learned that we have the power to force companies to strive for higher standards.

To win our money a company doesn't only have to be 'good', it has to be the best around. Sure it would mean merciless trampling of unworthy contenders, but it would also mean survival of fittest.

Its a lot of pressure on CDPR, but we 'aint giving any quarters. Non-American or not, Small or big, this is not about charity and kindness, this is about the free market - and its a killing zone - you either up to it, or you should have stayed at home!

I hope this wasn't directed at me.
So is the patch out?

Yeah but being bullies doesn't work. It only pushes developers to stop striving to be good if people are still going to treat them bad.

It's just like if I was trying to be the best husband I could be. Doing all I could to make life easy for my wife. Cooking, Cleaning the house, etc. If she starts criticizing me because I accidentally burned the steak...or I didn't clea to her standards. Eventually I stop trying and say screw it.

It's the same way. While we may have a right ot be upset..and we have a right to voice that to them..acting like complete jack asses in the process is the wrong way to go about it.

It's been like ONE day since the patch was supposed to come out. We have to give them some time to sort things out.

If in a month things are still completely jacked up and nothing has changed, then you can start getting angry.

My opinion.

Until you work for one of these companies yourself and can prove that you can do a better job at all aspects..stop making stupid comments.

No I am not directing anything I say to anyone particular here. Most of us in here are civil. I am more talking about the commentors on the community forum. I was using "You" in the general sense. Although I don't think CDPR is "burning their bridges"..

But yeah, in general anyone who starts whining and saying CDPR is a failure over a few minor bumps..they should stop.

I applied the GoG patch and it is working fine , Thanks :)
No one here is saying that. But, I do think that this is a PR debacle. If the patch comes out soon and removes Secruomm and the forums come back soon, all this will be forgotten.
So, the only two English translations are apparently available on Google Books:

The Last Wish (some short stories very relevant for a better background understanding of the stories in the video game):

http://books.google.com/books?id=aVPNxmllbAUC&printsec=frontcover&dq=the+last+wish&hl=en&ei=VqLeTZqlGuHw0gG5grnFCg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CDMQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q&f=false

The Blood of Elves (while Ciri is of hardly any focus in the games, you'll meet a bunch of characters you also see in the video games, perhaps increasing your appreciation for them):

http://books.google.com/books?id=ki3qy_OwVnEC&printsec=frontcover&dq=blood+of+elves&hl=en&ei=o6LeTaegNrTr0QHPlP3dCg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CEIQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q&f=false

If you really can't play the game without the upcoming patch, gaining a deeper understanding of the story might be a better way to spend your time than whining on the internet. :p

Well they don't have the privilege to stop trying and say screw it, they need to make money and feed their kids, and I 'aint gonna give them any breaks, because they have my money - and if they want more of it in the future they need to do better than that.

Well the thing about it is, no matter what, people will find negatives, and complain.

Had they said, look guys, we didn't get our forum up as we intended and we want this to be done simultaneous with our games release, so we are delaying it a week, people would have been just as mad and posting whining complaints.

It's always this way in the business...it doesn't matter how hard they try, how much good they do, the negative is always found, and pointed out. Sometimes founded, sometimes not.

In this case some of it IS founded, but some of it is being blown out of proportion in my mind.

Muhahah! Honest truth, I burned the steak nearly every time I cooked in in our apartment. Because our stove was a piece of crap. Now we just got a house, we have a real stove, and a grill. Now the steaks turn out good =)

This is kinda where you are wrong. When I said they would say screw it, I meant in terms of trying to make quality products for the fans.

If they are pushed away they will turn into another company like Bioware is with EA taking over. It wil be crap, rushed games, with tons of DLC and pay items, and still making money for them.

So no, the only people who lose when we push them, is us. We end up with crappier games, but at the same price tag...and for the most part the developer isn't going to take a huge hit in profits. See DA2.
