MichiGen: For haters: What do you expect from an archaic 4:3 monitors? There was a reason for creating a widescreen monitors.... Don't expect that you will see the same content on the smaller LCD with absolutely different aspect ratio. It's impossible, unless you don't want to have the image deformed.
I just read this
http://www.dsogaming.com/news/the-witcher-2-patch-1-3-aspect-ratio-fix-is-not-what-youd-expect/ , full of hate and stupidity...
The 4:3 aspect ratio in the Witcher 2 is correct. It's no FOV hack or any other shit....
Witcher 2 - 16:10 vs 4:3
http://l07.img-up.net/?up=1hrvqm2.jpg http://f74.img-up.net/?up=2h7m2z6.jpg Witcher 1 - 16:10 vs 4:3
http://t02.img-up.net/?up=368gsea.jpg http://y11.img-up.net/?up=4sg6qge.jpg See? Witcher 1 also had different visibility on different aspect ratios and it was ok. So why it's not OK now? I can't understand the stupid whining about everything from some whiners in discussions.
This is a correct way how to play The Witcher 2 in fullscreen aspect ratio 4:3
http://f74.img-up.net/?up=2h7m2z6.jpg This is a correct way how to play The Witcher 2 with black bars in aspect ratio 4:3 but with widescreen visibility.
http://n94.img-up.net/?up=1barsh7a4a.jpg And this is what will happen if you want both the visibility and fullscreen on 4:3 monitor.
http://k28.img-up.net/?up=1deformatejk6m.jpg its simple, its because witcher 1 was designed with 4:3 in mind, all parts of it were built to take advantage of 4:3, this game is designed for 16:9, it unlike 1 was designed with the ability to see the amount shown, 1 was translateing from 4:3 > 16:10+ meanign you were only gaining so there was no loss of any intended picture.
but now we are losing the intended picture. we were meant to see what is shown on 16:9 fully, it was how it was designed, as as such you should add not take away from that intended picture.
they are forcing a narrower perceptive, in 1 they gave you a wider perceptive then the 4:3 which can be called the standard Ratio for the game. but this one is still forcing a narrower then the standard Ratio, which is bad design.
and you are wrong about having to squish the image down (most retarded thing i ever heard)
sure they would have to re-render the prerndered scenes in the other ratios, which is only the splash screen and the retellings of the past in the cartoon, so they have the added, or just cut them to 16:9 when the scene comes up. as for the actively rendered areas, its simple to just make it render the extra area . its already drawn off screen they just have to enable it. no stretching, no distortions just perfect picture at no loss. only thing that will happen is widescreen gamer will whine for retarded reasons.
