I think the scenes and cards from TW1 really were more tasteful. This time there seemed to be a whole lot of swearing but little else.

I would be the first to acknowledge that my reading comprehension is far from ideal but this comment left me mystified. :/ Please feel free to elaborate. Unless, of course, it has nothing to do with the OP.

Getting upset over someone challenging the necessity of including said nudity/sex is.... somewhat less than mature. As a question it is perfectly valid.

The nudity adds little, (at least for anyone who enjoys actual intercourse with another human being), and comes across as precisely the sort of naive, animatronic, proxy for intercourse Hollywood is known for. It is a stunted, awkwardly executed, excuse for anything remotely acquainted with immersion. So why was it included?

Judging by 70%+ of the responses in this thread, I believe that question has a simple, and very predictable, answer.

geniusprime: Its funny how most people defense are Geralt is a manwhore or the game is for adults. Lets be real here. I would have prefered it weren't in the game soley because it looks bad and is embarrassing to watch. Awkwardly animated sex scenes detracts more than it adds. Now if it was nicely animated (I don't see that happening for quite some time) then I would not mind but the current iteration the game can surely do without.
What is so bad about the scenes? In my opinion they are nicely done I mean the animations and how they look.

I can't understand what is so wrong to look at naked woman really.
Killing... bloody and geared towards sadists.
Ploughing... perverted and geared towards potty mouths.
Geralt... is he even human?
Nudity... At least you can skip them unlike the mandatory QTE's.

Yes. Look around you.
I have no problem with the nudity, thats fine because the skin looks great and believable. The same cannot be said for the sex scenes. It just looks awkward and bad.
I must say I am failing to understand why anyone would think I'm easily offended by nudity/sex, offensive language, etc... My point was its done badly and I'm glad to see at least some people seem to appreciate that.

Also on a similar point, if I was to buy an erotic novel and it was just full of extremely poorly written sex scenes I'd feel somewhat short changed. Therefore by analogy buying a game in which there is a lot of sexual rompary, it feels perfectly legitimate to expect it to be at least done well, which it isn't.

Ok give us example please how it should be done?

lol... well put :P (especially that last bit)...

As far as sex-clips in a video game goes, this is a lot better than most, but still a bit limited. I'm not saying it's realistic or immersive, but except in a couple of cases (like the whores) I would hardly say it was gratuitous. As I said in an earlier post, the opening scene really sets up the story well, Geralt relaxing, not too keen to get involved in the fight (dialogue even says as much), just happy to be in the arms of a loving woman... that's my view anyway :) And you can't tell me you've never woken up with the morning horn and tried to get it on with the missus.....

The elven baths scene and the dialogue that leads up to it was quite well done I thought... *SPOILER* especially the bit where Triss grabs his foot and pulls him in while he was struggling to get out of his boots.... that kind of playful interaction moves it a bit closer to more realistic... a little :)

But I can see your point about it appearing "put on" for want of a better word.

As interesting and stimulating as this debate is becoming (apart from the immature "cause I need to see moar secks" nerd posts), I am afraid I must bid you all goodnight, here in Aussieland it is almost 1am - and I have a meeting with a client first thing in the morning.

And you're free to see it that way.

Still I think this is quite an improvement compared to the first part, and most computer games out there. I have yet to see a really "mature" game. It must be because the artform and industry are still young.

1 last post before I go to bed.... I think this is largely due to the sex taboo slowly being lifted, There is still a long way to go before it is no longer considered puerile and dirty (depending on presentation of course) and becomes an acceptable topic for discussion and depiction, but social values and morals are slowly changing.

Thwip: ...I thought Triss should have turned that guard into a goat in that scene.
That would have kept Geralt busy... *cringe*

+1

Which makes a Polish game tackling the topic all the more exceptional - we are still quite prudish compared to the rest of Europe.
Actually other than the whores, which yes can easily be stated as geared towards men and is quite funny imo, the other sex scenes i found quite tastefull and maturely enhance the plot. (NB. not done elf side act2 yet).
Where and why do people have this crazy idea that sex in games makes it mature? Mature in rating probably but nothing else.
