i was over @guru3d and read a forum post on enabling fxaa in games .i tried it in the witcher2 with the 280.19 beta driver ,i can run the game ultra most settings @1600x1050(native) even enable uber sampling , i ran around in flostam and i get great fps ! game looks real good ,i'm not sure if the hack just disables some of the higher quality effects or what (i'm not the brightest bulb) but if someone knowledgable would check this out there might be quite a few happy witcher 2 players

fps loss 1-4 out of 44fps ;)

Looks like lots of minute details are lost when you enable FXAA (referring to the screen shots), I also think during motion it looks a bit odd.

why would details be lost? it doesn't change the texture or polygon.

it does blur text a bit :(

280.19 is still in beta stage. I'm gonna wait for the WHQL release.

I figured out a disadvantage (for my utilization), D3Doverrider hook doesn't work with unison with the FXAA DLL wrapper.. :(

Oh...unlucky!

But I think it can be forced via Nvinspector!
(I can see the triple buffering flag at <HexSettingID>0x20FDD1F9</HexSettingID> in the "CustomSettingNames_en-EN.xml" file..needs Vsync enabled)

Note: D3DOverrider (without FXAA DLL wrapper) works perfectly on my HD6950 and my older HD5850, But with the wrapper file D3DOverrider just doesn't work (but no crashes).

This mod would be great if it didn't smooth the font in the game. Apart from this bug, it works correctly, even on x64 systems (readme says something different).

BTW. Does forcing Triple Buffering makes TW2 look better? Are there any other variables (in Nvidia's Control Panel) that improve quality?

Triple Buffering does not improve visual quality (looking better stuff), Its a feature which runs only in conjunction with Vsync enabled.

Enabling the option will add another a buffer to the Vsync (taken from additional frames), and increases frame rate displayed between certain range of FPS values. But at the cost of a minor increase in latency (with respect to the speed at which frames are rendered per second..in magnitudes of 16ms at 60FPS..etc).

What kind of AA does the game use by default if you just enable it in the game (or via user.ini)? It looks alright, but definitely leaves something to be desired on higher contrast edges or highlights on character models.

Definitely going to try out FXAA on the game when I get home tonight either way.

The AA implementation in Witcher 2 appears to be a post processing effect which blurs areas around 3D geometrical edges on the screen.
