ysu: oh ffs I should have read around before buying...

not just that it does not friggen work, I've wasted nearly all of my d/l quota for the month, it won't even support sli nor tripple monitor, not even 16:10 which I've 3 of. If it will work, ever.

That's just great. Fucking great. The days of proper game development are long gone, mark my words, all we get is garbage stitched together by indians.
Today, technology is rising so fast. Basically they are new hardware in the markets in span of one month it's hard for developers to cater to all of the people requests and needs unlike the old time. Considering CDRP is not a big company like those who owned by EA, it is not so bad. Beside they're working on next patch and fix, it is not the end of the world.

You have no idea what you are talking about. This has nothing to do with supporting "new technology" and everything to do with supporting modern PC gaming standards. Proper 16:10 implementation is a rather basic standard requirement and has been for a number of years already. PC monitors are almost always either 4:3 or 16:10 and they released this game with a hardcoded 16:9 resolution. THAT IS THE PROBLEM. This has nothing to do with supporting special hardware.

My guess is that CDR felt letterboxing gave the game some "movie like" feeling bull. Judging from the dev comments I read about the game, they really strived to give the game a movie feel. IMO they succeeded rather admirably but not supporting 16:10 for the people that want it is ridiculous.
There's no official forum for the witcher game yet, so I'll recommend you all to submit a support request ticket and ask for a fix. The more people do this, greater the chance of getting this fixed.
I posted this in a separate topic but I'll quote it here as well, this is the first response I've been able to get directly from CD Projekt.

"Trust us that we are working as hard as it's possible. Programmers have already fixed more than 10k bugs, we are also working very hard on the forums and the website." - from their main website witcher 2.

lol wow, that's fairly significant

Really looking forward to having no black bars in 16:10 if it ever happens
I don't care if horizontal is cut off to get rid of black bars

Falcon2045: The point is: If it was implemented correctly in the first place, we would not be here. It would work just fine.

The Problem is, that the game is hard coded for 16:9 resolutions. That's why Eyefinity users get black borders on left and right and that's why 16:10, 5:4 or 4:3 users have black borders on the bottom or on the top.

A correct fix/implementation would be a benefit for all users that do not have a 16:9 monitor. And I guess, this is the majority of all players!
I agree, but I just find it such a small issue that doesn't really make the game any worse. Having small black bars on my monitor is really nothing to worry about. We get these bars in movies all the time so we're used to it. I didn't even notice at first. On a 16:10 monitor of 1920x1200 this is a whooping 60 pixels at the top and 60 pixels at the bottom.

I really don't understand why a select few have to go the barricades and spouting nonesense like "pc development isn't what it once was" or worse just because they can't (at the moment) fully utilize their decadent little triple monitor setup (and again, I have it myself). It's such a minor issue considering what an excellent PC game we got.

Wouldn't be suprised if these same people came back once triple monitors are supported to complain how the framerate doesn't hold up to their expectations. It'll be the old "this game isn't optimized" drama all over again.

The point is - as already mentioned - that it is no extra effort to support Multi-Monitor, as well as all other non-16:9 Aspect Ratios, if it is correctly implemented.

In my opinion it it just fair to say, that the developers didn't do a good job on this particular part of the game engine. It is a flaw on the diamond-like general quality of the game.

Kudos for the great game! But it is not perfect... ;)
What's the best way to add my vote for the eyefinity support for this game? Before I order a game I need it working with Eyefinity. No money from me for the games which do not support triple monitor solutions.

Ibrin: This is Ibrin, the founder of the Widescreen Gaming Forum. If you'd like to help lobby for the Eyefinity and NV Surround, please retweet my request. It references back to this thread. The account is @wsgf.
Done.
There is a fix in process HERE from one of the community members of the WSGF. Hopefully he'll be able to release something soon that will help until the devs implement an official solution.

Don't let up on campaigning for an official fix, which is the best long-term solution possible.

-EDIT-
Tool has been released.

OK, now, why is there nVidia Vision Surround support with Patch v1.1, but no AMD Eyefinity support?

This is getting ridiculous...

Well, even with Nvidia Surround, the game insists on keeping 3x 16:9 monitors. This, if your running 3x 16:10 (or even worse, 3x 4:3/5:4), you get these nice black bars on the top and bottom, that runs over to all three monitors.
one more vote for an eyefinity fix.

i'm not playing the game till it arrives, and i not recommending it to anyone either until it does.
games still dont fully utilise things like directx or tesselation etc, even after all these years,...and people expect eyefinity to be used/implemented ?

just because its supposed to be a feature the card makers thought would take off, doesnt mean it will.

and not every gamer wants to buy 3 monitors to get a wider screen to a game.
i still remeber how long 4:3 15" monitors were the rage.

what we usually do is buy a bigger monitor or just plug the hdmi lead into a big screen tv ;)
lets leave them fixing the overall problems before asking them to start adding a feature only 0.001% will use.

begin the hate replys now if you please....lol

ps..my auto vac says it can clean the corners of the carpet on the box...it fecking doesnt !
