So I recently fixed an incompatibility problem which prevented me from using XP SP3. I assumed and was told by various sources that SP3 was needed for TW2 2.0 and beyond, I never second guessed this initially.
Well now that I have XP SP3 I thought I could just update The Witcher 2 from 1.2 to the newest patch (3.2) and get to have all the joys of the newest version right? Wrong. Now I get a completely different error. As soon as I try to launch the game from the launcher I get a 0XC0000005 error.
I looked around online and tried removing the /NOEXECUTE from the launch line of BOOT.INI which didn't do a thing. I made sure Direct X and .NET Framework were both up to date; they already were. I searched the GOG forums for the error code and found people suggesting to do a memory/hard drive test. I did and both tests came out perfectly fine.
I eventually stumbled upon this link which has a third party hotfix;
http://en.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?/topic/29609-possible-fix-for-the-infamous-tw2ee-not-running-error-for-non-steam-versions
With version 3.2, That hotfix gets me past the launcher into the game where I see the GOG logo and then the boat assassination video. However, once the video ends, the game exits instantly with no error to my desktop.
Anyone have any suggestions for me to try? Computer Specs below;
OS: Windows XP Pro SP3 32-bit
CPU: Core i5 2500K 3.4GHZ 4-core
Memory: 8GB(limited to 3.3GB) DDR3-1333
GPU: Radeon HD 7970 3GB GDDR5
HD: 2TB Harddrive with over 800GB free.
