I concur, entirely. The English version, this time around, is very, very good. Triss and Dandelion are terrible. Maybe they wanted continuity with TW1 on those main characters? The rest of the voice acting are among the best in gaming, so I am a little confused by the tin ear when it comes to Triss and Dandi.

Guess I'm the only one that loves Triss' voice. She grew on me.

I love Triss voice in WC2 than in WC1. I think it is more feminine, and still preserve her strong personality.

I love English VO in this game so much. I can really feel different accents, and cultures from various characters and regions in the games.

I don't speak Polish, so I can't comment regarding that aspect. But I am sure French VO isn't as good.

I'll be honest. The English VO's are vastly improved from TW1; certain characters like Roche, Sila, and Geralt stand out. Roche's VO's are bloody brilliant. But Triss, Dandelion, and parts of Letho's are the low points. Especially Triss. Her VO's are really bad.

As for the Polish VO's, I have only one complaint. It sounds like you guys reused the same actor too many times for different characters. Was it Jacek Rozenek doing every dwarf?
Anyway, I generally prefer to play The Witcher in Polish, as it was meant to be played.

I think people are confusing "I don't like it" with "this is bad."

I just finished a full playthrough of TW1, listening to all the conversations being fully acted out in Polish. It's amazing - every single character feels unique, and each voice actor and voice actress add something special to their performance. The cheeky Polish wit and semi-constant sarcasm shines through in every line. My Polish-speaking friend was with me, explaining the differences compared to the English translation (as we all know, the English translation was heavily abridged and simplified), and we both had so much fun just listening to the performances - even without knowing the language, I manage to catch most of the subtle details, and it's impossible not to notice how incredibly flawlessly performed and highly detailed and flavourful the voice acting is. I'm going to give TW2 in Polish another shot, with my friend, but I'm telling you, I noticed none of this superb voice acting last time I tried, aside from a few exceptions.

Seriously, I can't believe how fantastic the voice performances are in TW1. It's a huge tragedy that they did not maintain the same level of quality in TW2... :(

I agree with you about Polish voiceover in TW1. TW2's Polish VO is not as good, perhaps because they were spending more effort in English VO this time over?

Yeah, it seems like they put more time and money into the English VO's this time around. Listening to the Polish voices in TW1 still makes my jaw drop - it's done the way voice-acting is supposed to be done: Acted out fully, not just a voice reading from a script. Every single character is given the same amount of time and effort as the next, making them all feel unique and cared for by the game writers, the voice director, and the voice actors/actresses themselves. It's amazing, to say the least, and quite possibly the best voice-acting I've ever heard in a game that boasts this feature.

Yeah, it does seem that this time around the characters just read their lines alone in a box somewhere whereas in TW1 the voice cast co-operated in the performance. Still the Polish voicework is quite good in this game, better than English but that's not saying much. The Polish voices have more character. I switched from English to Polish midway thru chapter 1 and I immediately found out that the herb merchant is a drug addict. Just because of the way he talks, I hadn't done the quest yet. Also, Polish Dethmold is awesome, a sick old man with a twisted sense of humor, I loved the guy. I've seen some youtube vids with the English voice actor and he feels so... generic.

But yeah, the voice work falls flat in some places, the conflict scenes tend to lack emotion and therefore they also lack any drama.

Try the German VA if you want to witness truly terrible and boring acting. English VA is top notch compared to that. Ofc PL VA > EN for most of the characters (though not all).

I'm still only in Chapter 1, but I've been playing with Polish voiceovers and English subtitles and so far I'm really liking the voice acting. I'm not sure why people are saying it's worse than the first game; it seems just as good to me.

For comparison I just watched the opening of the game with English voices, and yes, it's much better than in the first game but I still definitely prefer the Polish voice actors, especially for Geralt and Triss.

I seem to be in the minority for preferring the Polish voices in The Witcher 2, but so far I definitely do. The only problem I've had so far is that sometimes the characters speak too fast and I don't have time to read the full subtitle, and other times people are shouting stuff during combat and it's hard to read what they are saying while I'm fighting. But for me the quality of the voices outweighs this downside.

Maybe as I get farther in the game something will change my mind, but so far I've felt that Geralt, Triss, Foltest, Roche and Loredo have been great in Polish. Incidental NPCs were good too.

I haven't really felt that anyone has just been blazing through their lines yet, but maybe there's more of that later in the game. I guess I'll see. Also, I could be missing some nuance since I don't actually understand Polish (although, knowing some Russian, I've been able to recognize a surprising number of the Polish words).

Yeah I meant that I prefer the Polish voices to the English voices in Witcher 2, sorry for the poor phrasing. Geralt especially I like much better. I like his new look too!

Having seen some of the prologue in English, though, I will concede that the various accents for people from different places (most notably the diplomat from Nilfgaard) were pretty cool. I suppose it's possible that they used different accents in the Polish VO but I can't pick up on them since I don't speak Polish myself.

English VO is far better. I find Polish VO too loud and their articulation over the top like in the theater. It keeps me distracting from completely immersing into the game. Besides, I am found of particular VA of English VO more than of those from Polish Version. The best examples are dwarfs (I love their Scottish accent), Saskia, Iorveth, all sorceresses (maybe except Philippa - she's okay, but sounds too old, IMO), Dandelion and even Geralt. Enough to say I hate Polish Triss, Dandelion and Sile's voices :)
