Wolfram_von_Thal: I like LOM because of the overwhelming feeling of threat it gives you right from the beginning: The enemy is legion and it's a desperate struggle for alliances. I also love the two possible ways to beat the game (destroying the Ice Crown rpg-style or winning as a grand scale strategist.
But DDR is my favourite, because of it's highly dynamic gameplay - no game is like another, there are hundreds of war parties battling each other, wandering around and five different races. I never finished it, but I always come back to another adventure. For me, DDR is one of the most impressive works of game design ever created: Openworld, highly dynamic, "living" gameworld - and all that on 48 kb!
Personally I don't like the remakes - they make the game more accessible, sure, but I don't like the aesthetics - the Midnight Engine was an approach to modernization I like more. They also change some things in gameplay itself.
I play both DDR and LOM still in their original state: With the help of the ZXSpectrum-Emulator ZXSpin.
They shouldn't change anything in the gameplay, I have been meticulous in recreating the original. There are of course chances there are bugs, and any small deviation in a calculation will have an affect. But that is unintentional.
