Joseph1957: Do you think Saga is a reincarnation of April?
avatar
Vainamoinen: Maybe not exactly that, but pretty much that, yes. :)

avatar
Joseph1957: If so, I hope they do change her bloody voice back to Sarah Hamilton, Saga's voice is terrible and out of character, and also they could have made her a bit better looking (I will never see April again in the same light)
avatar
Vainamoinen: Well, of course they'll change Saga's voice again in the very next interlude, and I strongly suspect they want to go with Sarah again eventually (should TLJH happen, they might have both April and Saga in the same game).

Still, keep in mind that this is not a AAA venture. The 11 hour Dreamfall probably had double the budget of 20+ hour Chapters. And voicovers are extremely expensive, that's why Chapters uses comparatively few voice actors for many roles (same voice actors for e.g. Zelenka/Vamon or Enu/Hanna or Adala/Shepherd). Finding child voice actors isn't just expensive, it's also very, very difficult. Bip sounds really great, in my opinion, but Bip is safely within the 400+ spoken lines vicinity.

Finding yet another child voice actress that sounds younger than Bip, and that for a single interlude with just about 30 lines of text? Really not worth the effort. I'm not certain of course, but I think they indeed went with Ragnar Tørnquist's daughter, who is just about seven years old. I think she did a marvelous job, considering the circumstances. And the money they save here will be put to very good use elsewhere – improvisation and working with the assets at hand, that is the mark of the surviving indie developer.

And it really seems like you'll never see or hear anything of seven year old Saga again, judging from the narrative structure of Chapters. So, chalk it up as minor annoyance...
Out of interest, I've tried to look up some of the real people behind the character voices they play (for instance, who does the voice-over for Shepherd) and a few of them remain unknown; obviously they are known, but do not seem to want to reveal themselves for some reason... A lot of those wiki edits are mine, thank you very much. :)

There is, as of now, no complete list of cast. There are no cast member names given in the rolling credits of either Book as of now. Supposedly that happens only at the very end of Chapters.

So we're left guessing. Some tweets have given valuable info, sometimes a name popped up on imdb which we didn't yet know, but mostly I've just been going through the Secret World voice actors closely listening for someone I've heard in Chapters.

Sometimes a guess is confirmed by Ragnar. Happy us. :)

If you have a guess for Shepherd/Adala, I'll gladly give her a listen! :)

Note: Possible spoiler for those who have not finished the game yet.

Just interested in what choice you made towards the end of the game when Kian stowed himself away on board the cloud ship. Did you take Likho with you or did you leave him behind? I decided that it might be a good choice to have Likho by my side, just in case he is needed in a difficult situation. However, I think Shepherd will need to maintain a low profile, along with her gang of rebels in Marcuria, until Kian and Likho get back (if they do).

Well, they have Zoë now, so I took Likho along for the ride. :)

Zoë and Enu will make a great team!

I forgot about Zoe. Yes, I think you're right, Zoe and Enu will make an interesting pair and I'm sure they will be the greatest of friends.

By the way, I would like to see Shepherd walking about the place - I wonder if she walks like a deer on hind legs. I suppose maybe the reason they do not have Shepherd walking around is because they cannot make it look graceful and this may spoil her image.

I hope they get around to animating Shepherd... I'd rather see the Elgwans moving around a bit more, though. :)

What do the Elgwans look like, I have not seen them in the list of Dreamfall characters?

just seen them "Alewangs".

What am I making all those screenshots for? ;)

Elgwans have been in every installment of The Longest Journey in some form. They're like the go to Arcadian animal. :)

As I said afterwards, " Just seen them", but I did not know them by name.

Why is the title to this thread a spoiler? Is it possible to change it? I came here awhile back, prior to purchasing Dreamfall: The Longest Journey to perhaps get some clarification on some of the reviews I saw, and a thread on the first page is a spoiler for the second game.

It just seems people assume anyone hanging out here is on Chapters, and some of us are new to the entire series. It seems a bit tacky to actually title a thread with a spoiler (not to mention the really bad unlabeled spoilers within the thread, but I was smart enough not to read any of it prior to finishing the second game). It might be nice for the original poster to change the title, since the story is notably the most worthy part of the games.

Actually, it's a very misleading title.

If you haven't read the posts and haven't played Dreamfall, you have almost NOT been spoiled, I think. :)
Joseph1957

Please don't spoil the game for the rest of us that are new to the series :(

I'm trying to avoid reading the other posts in this thread to avoid any other spoilers.

It's not easy talking about a game without giving a little of the story away - you try it!

If these little snippets do spoil your enjoyment, then it is best that you finish the game(s) first before wanting to know something from others.

Anyway, from now on, I will put a heading, “Potential Spoiler” on my posts in bold letters if this helps.

You are right. Sometimes it is not easy to avoid spoilers when you want to talk about something integral to the plot, but the effort still needs to be made.

In this case I am referring to the title of this thread. If you can, please edit the title of this thread to something like "chapter xx question *SPOILERS*"

SPOILER WARNING

From my perpective, having played TLJ and Dreamfall:TLJ, the thread title alone is a spoiler, as it appears at the end of D:TLJ that Zoe was indeed murdered. She may "go on" in some way, as it is suggested at the end of the second game. I won't read any replies to refute this, however, as they may spoil Dreamfall:Chapters for me and I haven't yet bought it, much less played it.

I was truly simply trying to keep any plot twists from being spoiled for other people and I certainly saw what happened as a bit of a twist, predictable or not.
