It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).

...and it's huuuuge at 26 Gb. I'm guessing they recompressed all the textures and tweaked the maps.

IIRC the patch file was "only" 5 Gb on steam, so the GoG manual process is wasting bandwidth as well as being slow. I wonder if using the Galaxy dev updates channel would have resulted in a smaller download?
Yeah just saw it was downlading and I am amazed and stunned.

Amazed and stunned that a 5GB patch was made into a 26GB download. WTF were they thinking?

Yeah, my drive has 30GB free and the patch refuses to install, Out of space (DRIVE), it says. So, that's crap.
Might have to uninstall and then redownload it instead?
This is really awfull. I also have about 27 GB free space on my SSD where game is installed and game refuses to install. Out of space :(
I can't free space to install patch, and there is no separate patch file on GoG via browser. Do I really need to redownload whole game once again to just for this patch?
Any suggestions?
26GB? Are you kidding me? And 29 for the initial release? I am a backer and I was really looking forward to this but frankly this is completely unacceptable. Additionally I'm starting to face serious bugs, (one which even seems blocking) in the short time I've been playing this. Really guys, can you just release a decently bug free game for once and stop swamping our drives (and consuming our bandwith) with bloatware?

The state of the gaming industry, really... I don't know why I even bothered. Just wait 1-2 years and buy a much better product for pennies.
Jepp 26 gig... they probably used the old patching process from gog not the newer one, that explains the delay. I am fortunate to have a 200mbit line so it does not bother me too much, but I can understand everyone who is a little bit angry about this.

That's odd, because I installed it this a.m. and the result is an installation ~4GBs smaller than the original--original 55+GBs, patched 51+ GBs. What kind of SSD do you have? If it's a Samsung, then odds are you have 10% of your drive space reserved. Unreserve it temporarily, then install the patch, and then reserve it again. It's always going to be tricky with an SSD if it's a smaller one and it's your boot drive, too.

My install of D:OS2 is on my SSD, and it *doubled* in install size after the Definitive Edition--because it is essentially two separate programs, now...;) I'm lucky as I still have > 45GBs left on my SSD! Good luck--I have this game installed on a regular 7200 rpm HDD and it's fine, really. Loads are 20-30 secs, max, now. Not enough to worry over.
So short first impression the 4k performance has slightly improved I am getting 40-50fps where I had 30fps before.
Ridiculous size!
I have to uninstall in order to free up ssd space, then redownload the entire game.
Idiotic.

I have Samsung SSD 250 GB and I disabled space reserving and I also manage to free 10 GB more. Now I have over 36 Gb and patch still refuses to install. Really BS. Now I'll have to download again the whole game just to manage to play. Because on my rig, game stutters all the time when I set textures to Ultra. And I run KIngodm come and D:OS 2 with no problems.
What is really ridiculous, if I set textures to one step below (High), textures looks a little better then old Daggerfall. And I can't see symbols on puzzle weapons, symbols on rotating stone puzzles etc.
I just hope that someday polished games on day 1 of release, will be "in" again. Like it's used to be.
Well maybe I should go play Star Control Origins and leave BT4 for couple of months.

It is not Inxile who is at fault here. it is due to how GOG releases their updates. I have several games on GOG where the updates are as large as just downloading the game again. On Steam this same patch is 5gb.

I agree though the size is definitely ridiculous. I have hit my band width cap on numerous occasions due to having to download whole games again with each update due the patches being virtually the same size as the whole game download. If Steam can make them smaller GOG should be able to figure out a way to do so as well.

Hey, we're aware of the patch size with BT4. We're looking into what we can do to reduce the size. Luckily, I have confirmed that the game runs way smoother with the patch, so hang in there, it's worth it. :)

It makes it less pleasurable to play a game at launch on gog knowing the potential is there to have to download the full game again at least once more. This is not specifically a bards tale 4 issue. It has happened with other games on GOG. Some large some small.

However, all this aside I love bards tale 4 and dont mind waiting a bit for the patches. it is the size thing that gets me.

So, I will hang in there to next month when I am able to donwload the recent patch. Hopefully by then it will be considerably smaller ;)
I have the patch now, but don't see much improvement in performance. At least not in places like (old) Skara Brae, or the Guild. In fact I get some short hitches/stutter every once in a while now which I didn't get before, unfortunately.

OTOH, I do get solid 60fps in parts of Mangar's Tower, but I haven't been there pre-patch, so I can't compare.
