Crackpot.756: For me, Tim just always shows up at the most inconvenient times. Like when I'm on fire. Or in hell, trying to run away from a Voodoo Demon to avoid accidental summoning. Or very on fire.
The first time I ran into him, though, if I recall correctly, he brutally murdered me, and not only because I was slow to realize that he was indeed trying to murder me and not just some friendly chap living in a cave.
I haven't really explored very deeply yet. In fact, I only saw lava in person for the first time a couple play sessions ago! Most of the fun of this game for, me is, comes from exploring all the little naturally-occurring caves and tunnels, carefully connecting them via my own tunnels only when necessary. I have yet to dig any long, straight shafts to anywhere, though I'm sure I'll do so eventually, once the thrill of spelunking in my main world has worn off.
I tend to start near the surface, and explore laterally more than vertically; only when I've reached the end of the current cave network (as far as I can see, anyway) do I explore
downward some more. What this means is that I tend to find a LOT of chests and pots (loot!) and hearts and ore and other stuff. I maxed out my health a couple weeks ago (I've had the game not quite a month), and I think my mana was maxed some time before
that (I'm a fallen-star-gatherin' fool! =D ); basically, I'd say I've probably been over-equipped for fighting pretty much all the enemies I've encountered thus far, except the bosses. (On a side note, I just beat Skeletron for the first time last night! So now I get to explore the dungeon. Only died once in my first little expedition, but I can already say that having lots of water candles nearby all at once
SUUUUCKS.)
