There are high reviews on both Steam and GOG but why. This FPS is is just rubbish. It's got awful gunplay and braindead AI. Saying that it's good for a Terminator games sends the message that you'll buy any friggin crap as long as it's lincesd.

I mean the shooting mechanics are just so awful
Its because it got praise for staying true to the story lines of the Terminator and Terminator 2. IMHO that is good because the game retains all of the sound effects and designs from those two movies alone. particularly the Plasma Rifles and the HKs are in fact originals too.

Because it's actually a damn good Terminator game.

Oh, but what about the gameplay?
You can improve the AI with this https://www.nexusmods.com/terminatorresistance/mods/5
This is what I wrote some one else who was asking about it.

"Put it this way, if Terminator Resistance was any other game you would say it is ok but not spectacular. However, what makes it good is the numerous nods to the original movies and the use of music as well as atmosphere. Average and easy combat aside the game really feels like you are playing a terminator game. I had fun with it and would play it again. Whether or not the game is worth the asking price is subjective and debatable. If it did not use a lot of the terminator aesthetics, music, and lore I would say no. But because it does I feel it is a good play for the dollar. Once you get passed the first little intro bit it really starts to come together value wise. The combat almost ruined it for me though. But even that starts to really get better as you get further in and the levels get more interesting and you actually start fighting terminators, infiltrators, etc. Plus there are a few maze like areas that I found sublime.

Stealth is also a very usable mechanic in the game. Once you find your first T1 reference about the diner, see big buns out side, and listen to that music you wont look back."

They bought it, loved it, and never looked back. I do agree about most of the combat not being that great. However, the game still holds together despite that. It is all about the fan service. And to be fair, there were a few really well designed areas. I am not talking visually though the visuals were pretty good, but actually having some interesting level design. Mostly in the optional bases. There where not many...but two of them really stood out. And there were a a fair amount of places with alternate paths to take. And there was a fair amount of hidden areas to find which made exploration fun. even though the majority of the games is pretty linear.

I also have to agree that despite the lack luster combat in places it turned out to be a damn fine game. It also gets better after the first area.

I also thought the combat was very easy, but then i just played it for the atmosphere and easter eggs. I will check out that mod.

Anything you can confirm in regards to the GoG build being uncensored or not?

Thanks in advance.

To me this sets a really bad precedent. It says that a game can be really bad mechanically as long as it's the right IP. I didn't think the game community did this. I'm always hearing about how gamesa based on movies are to be avoided; often for a good reason.

Funny I have not heard that being said. However, I would not jump on a game just because it is based on a movie. Nor would I avoid it. I took the plunge, tried this game, and liked it. The combat is not better or worse than a game like Elex. (that might not be the best example) but the game play is good. Decent exploration, stealth, story, visuals, and the combat gets better further into the game.

I like this game better then quite a few higher budget games with more polished game play that I felt were just average as well. Though you are looking at a guy that typically enjoys budget games more as I often find them more interesting, despite lack of polish on some areas. I am not sure if it sets a bad precedent for anything. The bad precedent would be if people blindly buy any movie game because the last one was good or it is based off a movie. This obviously is not the case otherwise we would all be praising the NES version of Total Recall :D . I dont think people are blindly saying the combat is good in this game but they are basing that is is good off more than just the combat. Which goes to show that combat alone does not always make a game and that there is more to a good game than just the shooting mechanics. Exploration, level design, visuals, story, presentation, music, easter eggs, hidden areas, branching story, stealth aspects.....etc. all of which do fairly well in this game. Though not the best by far. Combat just happens to be the weaker point, but it is not horrible either...just to easy. But everything else seems to make up for it.

People did not like the last game this studio made. Rambo, and there are a lot of fans of that movie (my self included...though only the first one.). So I can guess that it was worse somehow, and the studio is learning to make a better game. Even if on a smaller budget. They did so much right with Terminator. Though obviously there is room for improvements.

I find it far more enjoyable than any Borderlands FPS or than Far Cry 5.

I have only played Borderlands and Farcry 3 but I enjoyed this game more than both of those. :D

You keep saying "really bad" but I don't think that's what most are saying. More that it's just kind of okay... mediocre maybe... and the license makes it a lot more enjoyable than the usual mediocre FPS would be.
As a standalone game it would be mediocre, but it respects the lore more than the post T2 movies do.
Most if this is coming from the low standards of FPS games. Some of my favorites are games like FEAR and Crysis. It just seems the the bar is so low now.

I consider this game to be really expensive. I mean look at Dusk. It's way cheaper and way better.
